Has anyone camped here in mid October? The reservation line says it's closed after Sept 30.

Are bears a legitimate concern here? I'm looking to car camp but see they do not provide bear boxes to store a cooler...

I loved the camp sites with their tables and big stone fire pits. My site was further from 191 AM’s had no noise from it. It was clean and level and i had plenty of room for the trailer and truck. Pit toilets were also well cared for. Friendly host.

Easy access, paved sites. We were in site 13, double wide with 2 picnic tables. Host Bob was very knowledgeable about the area. Restrooms are very clean and even has a rug just inside the door. Will definitely stay here again! Used this as a base camp for Arches, Canyonlands and other state parks and national monuments.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find lots of empty camp sites. The loop to the right ( #1-16) is flatter, and sites are closer together, but have paved level pads, new picnic tables, barbecue stands, and concrete fire pits. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find lots of empty camp sites. The loop to the right ( #1-16) is flatter, and sites are closer together, but have paved level pads, new picnic tables, barbecue stands, and concrete fire pits. Sites are a mixture of open and wooded. The loop to the left (#17-42) are more dispersed, and not as flat, picnic tables are typically further away. Plenty of nice clean pit toilets, and water spigots. Some highway noise, but didn’t bother us. Hint: some sites can be reserved on Reservations.gov, with the rest First come/First served. BUT you can claim a reserved spot if it is empty before the next posted reservation. Lots of pull-through sites. We saw deer, cottontails, chipmunks, and a tree of roosting Turkey vultures. Some cell signal (T-Mobile).

We were in site 8 which was very spacious- we did not have to unhook. The site was pretty level. Paved roads, paved site and concrete slab with 2 very large picnic tables. Our site looked out over the forest. Very clean campground and the vault toilet was also clean, which was right across the road from us. There are several water spigots throughout the campground that actually work. There is highway noise.
I made an online reservation for this site and was charged $28- the entrance sign states the fee is $20 per night, so I’m not sure why I was charged $28. Because of this and the highway noise, I am giving 4 stars.

20 dollars without senior/access pass. 10 dollars with the pass. Great campsite. Quiet, paved road. Some spots have pretty canyon overlooks. Great spacing in between sites allows for privacy. Would stay here again.

All the sites have a fair amount of sun for solar and most have some type of shade during the day. Site 20 is situated in the pines, perfect for us during the hot spell we had during our stay. All the sites have a fair amount of sun for solar and most have some type of shade during the day. Site 20 is situated in the pines, perfect for us during the hot spell we had during our stay. The sun shifted all day, so We needed to add our portable panel, besides what we had on the roof.
Water is seasonal and later I found it meant from June on. So check before you go if the water is on. Luckily we had full water tanks and additional 10 gallons in our truck. You can get water at 7-11 in Blanding and perhaps other spots. There is a dump and trash container.
The campground is just off of Route 191,so depending on which site you have you will have road noise, but very little at night.
The first seventeen sites are reservable and the rest are FF. The 17 reservable sites are fairly large, so many will handle a 30 foot trailer easily and more. Fewer of the FF sites will handle big trailers.
This campground is between Blanding and Monticello. We tended to go to Blanding for supplies. Clarks is a local grocery store and is a good size for this area. The ice cream parlor was a daily stop. The Patio Diner has good burgers and fries.
Each day we did a different adventure from the campground: Needles, Hovenweep, Natural Bridges, Muley POint, Moki Dugway, Valley of the Gods, and several hikes to some of the ruins in the area. The Edge of Cedars State Park Museum is excellent.

We stayed in site #10, pull through, for three nights in early May. Site was paved and fairly level, long enough for my 31' fifth wheel and truck with some extra room. Campground was quiet and clean. Great experience! We will definitely stay there again.

The camp spots on the side that we stayed on are all fairly close together but the trees provide some privacy. The side that was closed has camp spots that are really spread out. We got there at around 6:00 PM on a Friday night there was still a few spots open, but they filled quickly. I wouldn’t count on getting a spot on a weekend unless you get there early in the morning.

Perfect for exploring Canyonlands National Park. Campground is dry camping only. Sites were mostly level. We stayed in site #12 which accommodated our 36' fifth wheel and tow vehicle. It was also a pull through site. The camp hosts were helpful, and the vault toilets very clean. Water was available, but you could not hook up to it with RV. No RV dump.
Campground was very quiet, and great for stargazing at night.
