We stayed for 10 days in total in 2 different spots. You need to check in at the Visitor Center in the off season and at the Camper Services after that.
There's only full hookups available for RVs.
T-Mobile worked well, we were able to work and stream videos without problem.
We arrived late April and we had 1 spot in the Group area which was first-come first-serve. You can only take 3 days at a time. They offer you to renew at the day of you check out before noon. If there's no reservation on the spot. Reservations period begins April 25.
It is busy during the weekend, so it is better to reserve in advance.
28$/night before May 1st, 30$ after May 1st.
The main attraction of the park is hiking and/or mountain biking. There's a lot of trails. It is close to Colorado Springs, so it is very convenient to explore the area.
There's coin operated showers and laundry. There's no shade, but you have a nice view of the Cheyenne Mountain.
The only downside is that we had a neighbour who had a lot of trash on his site during our first 4 days, and no one form the park told him to clean his mess. I think this was an exception because the park is very clean.

Have stayed at Cheyenne Mountain State Park many times because it is only 6 miles from my home. Great place to get "Out of Town" without using much fuel. From a tourist perspective, this should be your number one place to stay in Colorado Springs. Most of the campgrounds in the Colorado Springs area are crowded and aging. Unfortunately, this State Park is popular so get your reservations early. This loop and site are FULL service but be aware the concrete slab sites are not level and will require leveling. Beware! The road from Highway 115 into the State Park is filled with dips, potholes and god knows what other hazards. Go slow while driving to the visitor center!
The main attraction of the park is hiking and/or mountain biking. Be prepared for heavy urban crowds on the weekends.

Even though this is less than 30 minutes from our house, we had avoided this place largely because of the rules not allowing dogs on any of the trails. But they ran a pilot this summer allowing dogs on certain trails, and it went well, and they have now officially opened up about 3 miles of trails to dogs - so we thought we'd make a quick weekend trip & explore a bit. All the reserved spots were booked, so we went first come first serve, and they gave us about 5-6 sites to scout & choose from - and we selected Site #10 (in the Raptor Glen loop) - which was perfect. The site was $26 (off-season price) and we have the state parks pass, so we didn't have to pay the $7/vehicle/day fee. Full hookups (unusual luxury for us!), well-spaced sites. Not much shade - which we like but some folks do not. Great views of Cheyenne Mountain, and at night, nice views of the city lights of Colorado Springs and Fort Carson. Taps at night, and Reveille at 6:30 in the morning didn't bother us at all. VERY quiet considering you can see Hwy 115 from the park, but it's not exactly remote wilderness, if that's what you're looking for. ;-) We had neighbors across from us and catty corner - and didn't hear a peep. We didn't use the facilities, but all the buildings appear to be newer and very well-maintained. The camper service building is closed during the off-season, so can't tell you about that. The visitor's center is very nice as well. Would love to come back without the dogs sometime and explore some of the other (longer) trails. For us, this makes for a great quick getaway - we will be back.

High 80's temps were cool for us, but warm for the residents of Colorado Springs. Great views, weather, and location for day trips to Bear Creek Nature Center, the privately funded Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Ft. Carson military Museum, and so much more. Our grandsons did not have a chance to get bored with all the hiking trails and the two play grounds. We ran out of time and did not get to the visitor center or bath houses, however the down side is the $1.00 / 4 min. showers a volunteer staff member told us about, and the day pass fee of $7.00 in addition to the camp fee, requiring two individual stops to pay. Our two day stay = $74 total. We were in a s/c rental this trip, so the parks complete hookup was a nice addition including the elec., water, & sewer hookups. All paved roads within the park and located across from Ft. Carson gate 1 just off a State HWY, large covered campfire rings, High end concrete slabs with a sewer basin area, very clean facility overall. The second stop made for camp fees is inside a building with several camp "forgot it's" in stock for sale, such as marshmallows and fire wood. About 0630 daily, Reveille is heard reasonably well, but not loud, emitting from a Ft. Carson P.A. system, (my guess). We stayed July 22 thru July 24, 2017. Verizon worked well, but I really can't say how many bars. Not my priority, but probably at least 4 due to location.

CONS: Listening to the bugle calls at Ft. Carson early morning, afternoon, and night is loud and irritating. There is very little to no shade in many of the camping spots, so you are exposed to higher temperatures and WIND. Also, during our three day visit, we were constantly fighting off huge wasps.
We would go back for hiking and biking, but I doubt we will camp here again.

Wanting to visit Colorado Springs, we counted ourselves lucky in being able to snag a reservation for a few nights here just before the Fourth of July. This must be a really in-demand park as it was booked up for most of July and August.
We stayed in the Swift Puma campground, right next to the campground host. The campsites in this area don't offer much privacy (hello, neighbors!) but do give you great views of the city and valley below.
On the plus side, the facilities in the park seemed brand new and everything was super clean. There are lots of amenities beyond the standard on-site hook-ups like a playground, play/activity room for kiddos, laundry room, and camp store & gift shop.
One big drawback was the pet restrictions. While the park does allow you to bring your pets into the park, the restrictions are similar to those of a National Park in that you can't take your dog (or cats) with you on the trails, essentially confining them to your campsite and paved roads. (Fortunately, there are a lot of paved roads, so you can at least get some good walking in.)
We enjoyed that there are plenty of mountain biking trails that, though on the shorter side, definitely still proved challenging due the rocky terrain, narrow tracks, and climbs. All of the trails are pretty scenic and you can hike or run along the mountain bike paths as well. The city of Colorado Springs is about 7 miles away so it's close enough to explore fairly easily.

Our site was spacious and had some privacy. There are many hiking and biking trails all through the park which were very nice. Verizon 4G coverage there was good. The only reason I knock off any stars for this and every other CO state park is because of the ridiculous $10 reservation fee and the fact that you have to pay the $7/day park entrance fee on top of the campground fee. We travel full-time and this is the only state so far that we have been to that makes you pay an entrance fee in addition to the campground fee. Since we are traveling around Colorado for a couple of months it made sense for us to buy the CO state parks annual pass for $70, but it makes staying at CO state parks a lot more expensive than other states. We are from Florida, and FL state parks do NOT make you pay the entrance fee on top of the campground fee to camp there.

We camped here while I attended a conference, and it was the perfect location for that. The full hookups meant that getting ready for conference days was no problem, and the campground was only 15 minutes door-to-door to Cheyenne Mountain Resort. The campground is clean and very well maintained.
The campground is across the highway from Fort Carson, which means reveille wakes you up at about 6:30 every morning. It also is situated so that almost every site has expansive views of the city of Colorado Springs. Our site (#27) was the only one we saw with trees and some privacy, though we missed out on the view because of it. Just as the lights of the city make it obvious it is close by, so do the sounds of the city that reach up to the campground. This sense of not being away from it all dropped my rating down a notch, but the ease of getting around and into Colorado Springs brought it back up.
The noise of the city is compounded by some sort of machinery that runs in the camper center apparently all night long. It is never quiet at this campground.
The real drawback to the campground is that there are no dogs allowed on ANY trails...even the short connector trails. While I understand having some trails be restricted, it would be nice to have at least one trail where the dogs could get off pavement when being walked.
See my blog for more details.

Sitting out at night watching the lights of the city made for quite a contrast to our usual more sparsely populated vistas, pretty cool!
Sites are well spaced and level. Verizon signal is good if not that fast, AT&T is good signal as well but slower than Verizon. Access in to Colorado Springs is easy. Laundry is available. Hearing reveille and taps is pretty entertaining as long as you don't mind loud bugles at 6:30 AM and 10:00 PM.
The major downside to this park is that dogs are not allowed anywhere other than campground roads. There is an extensive trail network but dogs aren't allowed on any of them. The ridiculous thing is that we're not talking just back country trails but also the simple short things that connect roads to campground loops, pretty excessive.

Nice State Park, close to everything and anything in Colorado Springs. My star rating of 4 is based again upon the fact that no dogs on the hiking trails, argh.
