“Wonderful campground”

Reviewed Jul 15, 2018

Overall Rating

Very clean, nicely laid out sites, new buildings, well cared for. Great views and trails right in the campground. Wish we could have stayed longer but the weekend slots were already reserved. We heard that this state park is relatively new and used to be a private ranch.

“Safe and convenient in the Colorado Springs area”

Reviewed May 03, 2018

We stayed for 10 days in total in 2 different spots. You need to check in at the Visitor Center in the off season and at the Camper Services after that. There's only full hookups available for RVs. T-Mobile worked well, we were able to work and stream videos without problem. We arrived late April and we had 1 spot in the Group are... more

“Close to town but very much outdoors!”

Reviewed Feb 19, 2018

Have stayed at Cheyenne Mountain State Park many times because it is only 6 miles from my home. Great place to get "Out of Town" without using much fuel. From a tourist perspective, this should be your number one place to stay in Colorado Springs. Most of the campgrounds in the Colorado Springs area are crowded and aging. Unfortunately... more

Even though this is less than 30 minutes from our house, we had avoided this place largely because of the rules not allowing dogs on any of the trails. But they ran a pilot this summer allowing dogs on certain trails, and it went well, and they have now officially opened up about 3 miles of trails to dogs - so we thought we'd make a qu... more

High 80's temps were cool for us, but warm for the residents of Colorado Springs. Great views, weather, and location for day trips to Bear Creek Nature Center, the privately funded Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Ft. Carson military Museum, and so much more. Our grandsons did not have a chance to get bored with all the hiking trails and the t... more

PROS: The park is well maintained, clean, has nice bathrooms, and offers some great trails. The staff were friendly and the visitors center is a great resource. The views of the city are spectacular! We loved this state park. We had a beautiful view of Colorado Springs below, and the best part was having a view of all the July 4th fireworks going on around the city during the holiday weekend.
