We stayed at the Big Dune in late Sept. this was Our second boon docking experiance. We had our choice of where to park. No one else was around. It was in the 90-100 degree temp range. Our solar and generator could just barely keep up. We stayed about 1/2 mile from the dune.
Over all we really enjoyed our time at the Big Dune.

We found this spot on iOverlander. We stay on Valley View Blvd just south of US-95. This spot is pass the cattle guard on the right side of the road by the power poles. We could see campers down the road near the Dunes. This place was close to the road but far enough away from weekenders that go down to the Dunes.

Great place! Found it last minute when trying to get off the highway during high winds. Road coming in is in good shape aside for some washboard. Pretty windy and storms rolling by but beautiful and quiet otherwise!

We arrived after midnight, setup camp and had a great quiet sleep. Pretty dusty but nothing we couldn’t work with.

Four miles of dusty gravel to get in ... interesting dune formations that appeals mostly to the dune buggy crowd ... dust constantly from people entering on the gravel road. Some deep soft sand areas ... needed 4-wheel-low to get out of one spot. Overall, I can’t recommend this place.

Plenty of flat spaces to set up camp and everyone we encountered was very friendly. Nice area to visit and close for those spur of the moment trips to get in a little dune time. Nothing compared to "Glamis" but still fun. Highly recommend. No water so make sure you bring what you need. It is the desert and gets cold at night so be prepared.

This is a hidden gem! We were but ourselves - exploring the sand dunes and having a camp fire. The stars were amazing and the “real desert” camping was great! Cold at night but such a beautiful place. Flat parking. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

We did pick up a bag of trash from our site so that was disappointing.
Verizon was decent, ATT was strong, but our data provider didn’t work with the local provider.

We stayed here for one night in early February. It was very easy to get to - about 5 miles off 95 on a well-maintained dirt road.
The site was beautiful - it surrounded by mountains, close to to the big sand dunes, and sunny but perfect for the winter. Because it’s the desert it gets cold at night so be prepared.
There’s no toilet or trash service but there are fire rings. We didn’t see another person while we here. Some fighter jets flew over very low around 5pm but no noise other than that. It was almost eerily silent.
It is a ways from gas, water, and groceries so come prepared.
We’ve tent camped all over the US and this is one of the sites we have liked best. We would come back.
