First time in this Texas State Park and very impressed. All pull thru spots that include FH. The park was well maintained and very clean. Some highway noise but not enough to diminish the overall positives of the park. We will definitely return.

This was our first visit to this park since the forest fire several years ago. There did not appear to be much evidence of the fire, there is a lot of new growth pine trees, etc. I had reserved Site 20 but when I checked in the park employee told me that Site 20 has the sewer connection on the opposite side of the electric/water connection and asked if I wanted to change which I did and was able to get Site 22. Site 22 was fine and has a roof over the picnic table which other sites don't. The site was pretty level side to side but lower in the front. We were not there with kids but it is a great park for kids. They have good size playgrounds and during the summer a swimming pool. The park is just outside the town of Bastrop and is an quick drive to get to their downtown with restaurants and shops. The park is also close to TX 71 so there is a small amount of traffic noise but nothing bad at all. We were able to get OTA Austin channels on the television.
Note: I checked Site 20 and confirmed that the sewer connection is on the opposite side of the electric/water connections. It also looks like it would be very difficult to get out of with a trailer. The turns look tight especially if the other sites are occupied. I would avoid Site 20.

The RV area has a beautiful view. Covered by the super tall pine trees! The restrooms are spotless. The RV spots are tricky, some only water and electricity, some full hook up but closest to the highway (noisy). Take plenty of water if the plan is to camp out during the summer days. Overall good experience

Well, I didn't check Google Earth before I booked. Otherwise, I would have seen just how close our campsite was to the Hwy 71. This was our 4th Texas State Park in a little over 2 week's time, so I thought Bastrop would be as off the beaten track as the others. Not so much, here. You are very close to the highway, and the noise inside our coach is noticeable, even at 2100 hours.
The reception at HQ was very professional and accommodating. And, they have a gift shop there along with Blue Bell ice cream!
There are many short hiking trails throughout the park, and they have playgrounds for the kids, and a swimming pool during the summer.
The park roads are narrow and the 30 mph speed limit is about 10 to 15 mph too fast, really! We got buzzed by both a motorcyclist and a bicyclist on the same walk along the road. I would try and stay on the trails.
The campsite loops are very nice and clean, although some of the sites are stacked somewhat close, and our sewage hookup was ~30 feet away from our sewage connection. So, I chose to use the dump station the next day upon departure, rather than run 3 sections of sewage hose over the ground just for one night. The bathrooms are clean, newish, and includes showers.
We were in a full hook-up site in the Cooperas Creek Camping Area loop. However, I would op for the Piney Hill Camping Area loop, sites 1 - 25 next time as they are just a little further away from the Hwy.

OTA TV reception is good, and Verizon cell service is strong. There is traffic noise from the nearby highways. If you don't feel like cooking, the Roadhouse Bastrop restaurant is just outside the park entrance and has excellent food.

We arrived last night around dark. Our reservation was a pull thru with full hookups. No attendant was on duty, but we had pre-registered online, and had no problem driving straight to our site, following the well placed signs. The sit had a little slope to it but no real challenge getting level. All connections were well placed so no extra hoses or cords were needed at all. Numerous over-the-air tv stations are available and my AT&T phone has 3 bars of 5G signal.
This is a nice park with plenty of nice sites for campers and tenters. I would recommend it, and we would definitely return.
Bucee’s, HEB, and WalMart are nearby… what else could you need?
3 Bars of AT&T 5G!!
