We had only planned on staying two nights but we liked it so much we extended it another week. Right beside the lake, a sweet spot to dip our kayaks in the water, a great trail for our mountain bikes to the other end of the lake. Paved roads, spacious sites, easy hookups and Bastrop was a cute town to visit.

This is a very nice park. Scenic, well maintained, and clean. Roads are easy to navigate and parking is easy. The sites are well separated by thick brush so lots of privacy. Water pressure is high at 85 PSI, so bring your regulator. All utilities worked well and were close by. Lots to do with hiking, fishing, boating, mini golf, etc. Nice cabins are being remodeled right now. Some down sides while we were there included utility company traffic through the park as they replaced some power poles, and some closed trails and machinery noise while they clear brush from a large portion of the property. Hopefully this will all go away soon though. It was easy to pick up multiple local TV stations, and we had Verizon cell service, although it was only 10 Mbps download and 7 Mbps upload with 2 bars. Most campsites are level and have nice tables, fire rings, and grills. There is currently a burn ban but we were still allowed to have charcoal or wood fires in the above ground grill. The park hosts kept the place clean, and they have contactless check in. Lots of birds and we heard owls and coyotes calling at night. Very nice natural setting, yet has food, gas, and groceries just a few miles away.

The day use fee needs to be waived for campers who pay for their spot already. And tent campers need to have their own area and not take up a full hookup area that is for campers.

The park is clean and well kept. We camped in our Subaru Outback, so I can’t comment on the experience for those with campers. We lucked out with site 35, it seems to be the best in the park. The camping fees are reasonable, but they tag on an extra $5/person/day, which seemed a bit silly. Would recommend though!

Our site was 50 amp with water, and there is a very convenient (approachable from either direction) dump station near the entrance/exit. This would be a 5 star park if not for 2 drawbacks-
First, the whole area is in bad need of some tree trimming. There were low trees at the entrance, all around our site (making it hard to put the slides out and they definitely hit the roof), and on the exit of the dump station. The second bigger issue is value... the rates initially sound reasonable, it's $22 for electric/water and $27 for sewer/water/electric (though it looks like there may be a Passport America discount for weekdays/non-holidays) plus a $6 online booking fee ($7.50 if you call), and then it's $5 per adult per day (or you can buy the city park pass for $150 a person ... not a car load, a person). Our 2 night stay was $70, averaging $35 a day, and for comparison Bastrop SP is $25 a night for FHU (no booking fees), and the TX State Park Pass is far handier and more reasonably priced.
The park employees and camp host were all helpful and nice. T-Mobile service was usable but so-so even with our booster.

The sites all have a concrete approach and parking pad and some have an additional concrete pad under the picnic tables (some sites have fine gravel under the picnic table.) There are paired sites that are very nice for people camping together, and single sites for a bit more privacy. There's a bathroom with showers. They have kayak and canoe rental and a boat ramp if you have your own boat.
The dump station was top notch! Set up so that 2 RVs can dump at once, and with actual good-quality hoses with threaded ends to use if you have a tank-flush inlet on your rig. The caps on the sewer fit well so the area doesn't stink. Oddly, there's no trash can or dumpster near the dump station for you to dispose of your latex gloves, etc.
Sprint and AT&T had very good data service. Backhaul was a bit light, generally around 3-4 meg upload speed but downstream speeds were high. VZW was reliable but slower, and T-Mobile had (low) signal but was unusable for data.
