Instructions for bicycle distance and route to get to the petroglyphs. Then keep following the loop back past the houses. Turn left at the broken down vehicle if still there. Turn right to go up the hill that you actually came down on your way to the petroglyphs.
Lots of people camp just off the River Road exit. Always room for more. Very quiet.

Called the Arizona Strip ranger and we were advised no restrictions on shooting, fires or camping. Because of the no shooting restrictions there is a lot of trash and some of the pull offs approaches can be iffy. I have a long bed f350 and 35’ bumper pull

You can use it on any AZ trust land. I hate to say it but I think the lack of people paying for the permits have probably lead to no resources being used to keep the area nice. There are areas with a lot of trash. People bring their old TV sets and shoot at them then leave all their garbage behind. This is our 2nd time here and it is worse than before. It is a beautiful and convenient location that is sadly being ruined by humanity. It is quiet with good star gazing here. Any size rig can easily find a spot. Their are good hiking trails a short drive away. We hope the area improves because we have really enjoyed our stays.

Stayed about a week to visit family in Saint George. This is Arizona trust land so you have to pay for a permit. We went about a mile in and found a site off the main road. I echo others when they talk about the insane amount of garbage and the constant dust from the atvs. We had people shooting all around us most days and kids partying at night. We scouted other sites farther in but the garbage was unbelievable. Our site had an open latrine pit not far from where we parked that we had to fill in. We filled at least 3 garbage bags full just from our general vicinity. OK, you get the point. People are gross, lazy and inconsiderate. On the upside, no one bothered us and we were visited by coyotes and curious bobcats at night and you can't beat AZ sunsets. Oh, we had good cell service too.

It’s sad to see such a beautiful location with great atv trails and access to amazing petroglyphs be so wasted because people just don’t respect others and the environment. No shooting and dumping is written everywhere. Still, people go target shooting and they don’t pick up. Lots of nails too.

It was inundated by inconsiderate ATV and four wheel truckers jamming down the road even late at night. Dust clouds were constant. Early in the morning I also heard gunshots nearby. I couldn’t wait to get out of there so I packed up and left pretty early pulling my trailer. Past by a spot nearby where a guy was indeed shooting a gun.

So this land may not be around for very long, there is a lot of developments around the area. The dirt road in is very well maintained. The first area to the right was occupied so we went further up the road and turned right on the second road that went up and opened up to a large plateau where you could fit about 6 big rigs with lots of space between them. The sites are dirt but pretty level. We did not venture further since we were happy with the site we found but we could see other big rigs in the distance. Lots of ATV dirt roads to go explore and mountain biking. St. George is about 4 miles so you could drive in to get some food. The first site we stopped at was littered with trash but a little further on the plateau it was cleaner.
Expect dust but we loved the open feel where we could watch both the sunrise and sunset over the low desert hills.
Cell service was adequate, I was able to do some work on my computer with Verizon.

A bit of trash but that’s sadly normal these days. The further out you go, the less trash. Do keep your dogs on a leash if they don’t recall well because prickers are abundant. This is Arizona Trust Land. It’s $15 for a permit for the year. It’s the way they keep out the homeless. You have to move a half mile every 14 days. We were here in October. Can’t imagine how hot it is in the summer!

Because of its popularity we found lots of trash including nails, metal parts, plastic containers, etc. We would only stay again for its convenience for stocking up on groceries and passing through the area.
