“Desert Views”

Reviewed Apr 22, 2019

Angel Peak is a very nice camping area, and like many areas in New Mexico, has great amenities. The shade pavilions at this site are great. There are also clean vault toilets, but no hookups. The dirt road into this area can get very "washboard" so be prepared to take it slow. The views from every campsite are great: sweeping canyon... more

“Amazing Views”

Reviewed Apr 05, 2019

BLM land with three covered picnic areas each a couple of miles apart and a campground at the end of the six mile dirt road. We stayed in the second picnic area (local guy said it’s ok). All four spots are on the canyon rim with AMAZING views. The dirt road is maintained and can be traveled by a normal car. Sunrises and sunsets are... more

“Had a great view of Angel Peak and the Kutz Canyon Badlands.”

Reviewed Apr 01, 2019

Overall Rating

Grabbed the primo group site with a big covered picnic area, and great views of Angel Peak and the Kutz Canyon Badlands. Couple other good view sites in this small campground, but the majority are small and unlevel. Lots of oil & gas development in the area that spoils the ambiance a bit, but overall a nice spot. Easy day trip to Chaco... more

“Breath Taking”

Reviewed Oct 24, 2018

Overall Rating

I spent 7 years in the Northwest corner of NM (Farmington) in the early 70's. I had truly forgot how breath taking Angel Peak is. You have to experience it to understand. I know there are many treasures across this vast country and A.P. is one of them. We will come back!

“A great surprise!”

Reviewed Oct 24, 2018

Angel Peak was an unexpected surprise on a stopover through New Mexico. I almost turned around once leaving the highway...6 miles of really bad washboard. I'm glad we stuck it out and made it to the end. It was such a beautiful view that we decided to move some days around on our trip and spend a second free-of-charge night. The vi... more

We were here the last week in August 2018 - was planning on staying 2 nights but was so peaceful and beautiful that we stayed 4 nights - we had the last and largest spot right on the edge of the canyon - gorgeous views and no security lights or street lights to block the amazing night skies - there was only two other campers there... more

“Boondocking with a view!”

Reviewed Oct 17, 2018

Overall Rating

We were looking for a CG in the general area to break up a long drive. We prefer boondocking spots as we're self-contained. We stayed on a weeknight in mid-October in our 25 foot MH. This is a beautiful, primitive CG! We noted the sign to Angel Peak Scenic Area/ RD 7175 heading east 15 miles south of Bloomfield. The 6-mile unpaved r... more

“Very unusual place to camp”

Reviewed May 06, 2018

All in all we liked this spot. There are only 2 or 3 spots that we could fit into and the one we got was huge, I believe it could be used as a double but the campground wasn't busy so we had no problems. The road in off the highway was quite 'washboardy' which I don't like. It took us a while to drive the 10Km (6 miles) in because we ... more

I was driving late at night on the adjacent highway and I saw the sign for the Angel Peak and I gave it a try. When I got there it was so dark I didn't know what to expect in the morning.
