We have stayed here 4 times since 2019 and this was the busiest we’ve ever seen (Early February). There were many rigs of every kind but still lots of space. Very quiet day and night.
AT&T worked good. Emptied trash at rest area on Hwy 8 westbound about 10 minutes away. Water spigot at the rest area was no longer available.

Pretty good place to camp. Wide open desert. Enough room to spread out. Spent a week here to get some dental work done in Mexico. 20 mins to the border. 25 to Yuma. Lots of Coyotes every night. I would definitely camp here again. No trash which is awesome!

So much open space here. Being that this year has terrible weather and winds, I’m going to write that off. It does get wind here normally, but this season is off the charts. Close to Water/Dump, and trash right down 8 a few miles, and also fairly close to Yuma, I guess about 15-20 miles. Yuma has everything you’ll need.
Much of the area is level, and there are easy access points from the main road.

Great boondocking area west of Yuma Az in the California Desert. Lots of hard packed level areas for camping. Very open so the wind can be an issue. Very good Verizon service, 131.1 Mbps download speed.

The wind can be ferocious but check your wind app and you’ll be assured that it won’t last. We had 2/7 windy days. BEAUTIFUL sunrises and sunsets. Couldn’t hear other campers. Very peaceful. We filled at the rest area in the median 4 miles west of Ogilby exit as mentioned in previous poster said. Easy to get back on westbound. We planned meals and propane well and provisioned in Yuma and stayed a week no problem.

Enjoy the outstanding sunrises and sunsets. Campfires in the desert at night are fantastic. I've had a fox come visit one night. It can get fairly windy, so keep that in mind. Don't think I've ever been bitten by mosquitoes.
To Do:
-Go into Yuma and attend the car races at Cocopah Speedway. Bring a heavy jacket as it gets cold at night in the winter. Super fun.
-Mountain biking is great. A few hills and lots of arroyos to traverse and jump.
-Downtown Yuma has some great little shops and restaurants.
-Go to Del Sol Market in Yuma and get the BEST, freshest corn tortillas. That market also has a coin operated, pay by gallon, fresh drinking water station in the parking lot. .75 cents per 5 gallons.
Otherwise, there isn't much to do, but chill out and relax.

Pros: plenty of room, safe, trash & water nearby at rest area off Hwy 8. plenty of sun for solar, close to Los Algodones, MX for day trip and Yuma, AZ for anything you need.
Cons: not the most scenic area, ATV’s riding around (unless you have an ATV then this place would be awesome and a pro), spotty AT&T (sometimes good and sometimes not), can be windy.
Would definitely recommend.

We stopped with the intention of staying 5-6 days. When we arrived we were shocked by how few people were here. The few who were here were all in a bunch. We found a spot far away from everyone else.
Unfortunately the wind was ridiculous and after 2 days we left.
