If you are bothered by highway traffic and constant noise from freight trains, go somewhere else, this isn't for you. We're easy so, no problem for us. "Pack it in, pack it out." No trash dumpsters, no water, no nothing, just a flat and free spot to set up for a couple days or so. Rigs of all sizes here. AT&T service; 2 bars, doable. What do you want for free? We will be back!

People are very friendly a respectful. Quite a bit of spaces available, flat and easy to get too.
The directions here are about .5 mile off, Google took me into a comercial property. Better google the VFW instead. The campground is just behind it.
Noise is bad, cars, trains and jets.
Convenient location.

Pull into the VFW lot, go past the tank and turn right behind the VFW and into the BLM lot here. You can go in front of the VFW, but its tight with a low tree.
Lot was dead level, soft sand/gravel. No trash around.
If noise bothers you, don't stay here. Lots of trains rolling by at slow speed. No horns, but engine/brake/clunking noises all night.
Very close to Yuma, 10 mins to "everything" on Fortuna road and the I8.
If you need water stay on 95 and drive down to 7th ave (5-10 mins away) there is a Circle K and Chevron. Both have water stations you can fill the RV or jugs. 50c for 5 gal. Easy in and out at the chevron for big rigs.

This is approximately 6.7 miles further on down the road from where Carmen took me to the address and if you use the GPS coordinates you will go about a half a mile too far! People stayed spread out and it was a nice spot to stop for a day. Based on others I camped in the back further from the trains but still not bad at all or noise

It was ok for one night while I was passing through but the trains at night can be a bother if you are a light sleeper. Other than that it was very quiet.
Cell Coverage: The AT&T tower that covers the camping area is approximately 1.5 miles to the north of the campground. I was able to stream Paramount + without any issues.

Lots of trains. No generator noise when I was there. Road traffic from hwy 95 is there but quite at night. It’s a place to stop over and figure out what’s next if one hasn’t pre-planned a quieter location. I was able to stream a movie but stutter stop frequently with ATT. Lastly but not least it’s free and secure.

As other posts suggested, there are crazies camping in the shaded brush area in the back. Lots of ruckus and talk of gun fire but no bullets yet. There are great trails you can get to by going under the overpass over St Rt 95 and under the train tracks, just be sure to duck-ah your head low-la bridge-ida! Lots of train and highway noise. Cool if you're into trains. We saw an Amtrak and a private train as well. Almost forgot! They got the cutest little prairie dogs here too. Not like the kind I had a tourist point out to me that time in NYC. These are the real deal.

No host on site while we were there so we couldn’t register. There is a wide assortment of RVs, tents, vans and people tend to allow space and privacy unless you want to visit. We get our TV over antenna which was limited to only one national station (ABC).

Easy to miss the turn into the VFW - and that is how you access the BLM site that joins to the north. Not difficult to find somewhere relatively flat and it is organised with a host. You will need to check in.
I was immediately accosted by a drunk who launched into attempting to goad me into a fistfight !!! I am in my 60s and am a bit past all that stuff. He is still there on the fence line in the corner away from the road among the trees. I think he thinks he owns the place, looks like a long term 'resident' even though you are not supposed to stay more than 14 days.
I moved to the other side of the plot to avoid trouble and met some lovely people. They had a propane fired campfire so not wood. Fires are allowed and some people had small campfires.
I swear that no less than 30 minutes after dealing with the feisty drunk a sober guy came into these folks camp and announced that we would have to extinguish the fire because he was getting smoke in his tent. He had to be 40 yards away among the trees. Not wishing to be a nuisance they turned the fire off and he wandered off. No thank you nothing. Again he thought he owned the place. About 30 minutes later he returned. He was a little aggressive and by that time the guy who owned the fire had turned it back on because it was illogical. He announced that he had gone around and told, not asked, everyone there to put their fires out. My friend said what about an apology and he never said he was sorry and was rather rude. The folks tried to make small talk with him but he obviously thought he was in some position of authority. He stomped off.
A fun story lol.
The campground is somewhat small and there is zero cell signal. No shops or anything at all except the VFW which was closed. I would not stop here again it is more trouble than it is worth. I left early in the morning for Pilot Knob for dental work in Mexico. I shall pass in the future.
