I stayed for only one night. Wish I’d had time to stay longer as it’s a very quiet place right on the river. The camp host was very nice and helpful. I stayed in site 30 which is a nice big pull thru. New tables and fire rings throughout. Very clean pit toilets.
I stayed here to be close to Chimney Rock Nat Mon. Friday before Memorial Day and only four or five sites were occupied. Water and trash are available. There are only two toilets spaced far apart. One is new.
We traveled 7 miles of dirt roads to Moose Creek Campground to find the entrance impassable. Five huge muddy potholes, one the width of the road. I didn’t read any advisories indicating the entrance required 4wd. We weee re e disappointed we couldn’t stay.
I came here after finding Deer Creek CG closed for renovations. Nice tent sites right on the creek. Moose, elk, and deer in the area. I camped for one night in the turn around with my van. No one else was there. It has nice tables and fire rings but no bear boxes. An older FS pit toilet was very clean. Three of four sits are across a footbridge.
Seems to be a hidden gem. Reservable except walk-in on the day of arrival if you didn’t reserve ahead of time. Very clean bathhouse with plenty of hot water.
