Wouldn’t recommend it with an RV or even a smaller camper like the CruiseAmerica’s. The road is too narrow for that. Merc Sprinter or similar vehicles would easily be able to get here.
Campground was clean. There was a fire pit and that’s it. Very basic. It’s about a 30 to 45min drive from Hebo up to the campground so just keep that in mind.
I had no cell reception.

other reviews are good. road in is fine until the pavement ends; then it's dirt and gravel and frequent potholes. the road is rough in some areas and barely wide enough for a trailer in other places(with drop off on one side). really not the road to take in anything bigger than a large van. it was not an enjoyable ride after the pavement ended with steep/winding portions where my 2WD almost lost traction. steep down grades on gravel/bumpy roads will have you riding your brakes. BUT, once there, it really is beautiful forest. lake is nearby. sites are not very level and there are only about 5 spots worthy of camping. NOT the place to use solar; this is deep tall forest.

We drove for around an hour down narrow logging roads, only to find a locked gate when we were about 2 miles away from South Lake (according to gps). Nearly got stuck trying to turn around. We went down a few other roads trying to find another way but it was a bust all around.

Arrived around 4:30 on a Friday and only saw 2 other campers. By next morning, another 3 sites filled up. Vault toilets were pretty clean. Didn’t explore anything around as it was raining the entire time I was there. Quite a few hunters in the campgrounds / parking to go hunt. Road to get there was about 12 miles of dirt/gravel but when I left, only had dirt roads for 3 miles. Had 3 bars of LTE with AT&T once there. I’d definitely stay again. Very secluded and lush with greenery.

Nice place with many sites. Lake is beautiful, only real challenges are the road to get in. After that enjoy a nice camp site.
