Loved this campground! It was our first experience at a Georgia State Park and I doubt it will be our last. The sites here are all large pull-thrus with lots of trees and huge sitting areas. The site quality varies a bit, but since you are allowed to drive around a pick your own site (even if you have a reservation) I'm sure anyone could find one they liked. Although you should probably arrive around check-in if you want more site options to choose from. We picked a site on the edge of the park that had water and electric hook-ups. It had a very private feel and we loved waking up to the sound of birds chirping in the trees every morning.
The only thing I would caution is that if you come here in the spring be prepared to leave with a roof covered in pollen and oak tree blossoms! Being surrounded by all those spanish moss draped trees was more than worth a trip to the car wash though.
The facilities were modern and clean. Be sure to use the large bathroom near camping area 4. It had some really nice showers and a set of new looking washers and dryers.
We never made it to the nature center, but we did peak into the window one day after closing and it looked like they had some cool exhibits. We walked or biked all the trails. A few were muddy from recent rain, but still in reasonable shape. Don't miss the Big Ferry trail where you can read signs about the history of the area.
My only complaint is that $39 for partial hook-ups seems really steep. There is a 65+ discount that we didn't qualify for. Also, they charge you a $5 parking fee in addition to the cost for camping. Other than that we loved everything about this park!

We stayed here right after we purchased our new to us 1978 Argosy 28 Motorhome. It was our first time in the Argosy so this park has some fond memories for us. I would say that overall I expected more out of this park but I would go back now that I understand its limitations.
There is plenty of room between each site but not a lot of ground foliage so you will see your neighbors. Lots of Spanish Moss drapes from the tremendous amount of Live Oaks throughout the campground. Some of the interior roads are a bit tight for larger motorhomes so watch for low hanging branches.
A few things I didn't like were the lack of hiking trails and the exposure of each site. It can get very busy and since there are few trails most everyone just hangs out in the park. I've been spoiled by most other Georgia State Parks for hiking, so this park let us down quite a but. It is HOT HOT HOT and quite humid in Savannah, so be prepared to run your AC. The park is not close to the city so you will need to figure out transportation to the city if you plan on seeing all the beautiful sights Savannah has to offer.
PROS:
Large sites
Beautiful Live Oaks and Spanish Moss
Some limited hiking to ruins
Its a good launching point to enjoy Savannah if you have transportation
CONS:
Hot and Humid
Sites are exposed so you will see your neighbors
Can get very busy

Skidaway has everything we want in a park: big, tree filled, level spots. It also has some great hiking trails, and it's close to Savannah and the other islands for exploring.

“HUMID but beautiful”

Yes, there is plenty of shade. But in the summer it is HUMID!!! Not recommended for a summer stay. I have not actually stayed here, but I've lived in Georgia all my life and in Savannah for several years. Expect gnats and mosquitos also.
