I've made a short video review showing every corner of the park: https://youtu.be/YT83xPKtTZc Medina Lake Thousand Trails is in a very pretty location - a huge territory with a lot of trees, a nice lake. Deer walking everywhere, tons of them! It has a very big potential, though is not very well-run at the moment. Many sites are closed (power doesn't work there), many sites, doesn't have a sewer. Many branches need cutting, some amenities have to be better looked after. They also charge for incoming packages 5 dollars each, and do not accept USPS at all. The bathhouses are clean. Many dumpsters all over the park. The park is pretty though and the deer! So many deer. And roadrunners :) The stuff was not always eager to solve the problems. I've heard that the cabins are nice.
Your stay here will mostly depend on your expectations so far. For us - the deer won over everything. We've got a Thousand Trails membership.

It is a very large campground. We ending up finding a water/electric a site next to the water so driving up to the pool/laundry was a must. There are many sites that are out of order which is a shame since a lot of those are nice spots. The bathhouses are outdated but were clean. The pool was open, hot tub out of order and the activity center was out of order.
The deer are everywhere which is kind of fun. You are not allowed to feed them anymore. Overall our spot overlooking the lake made up for what was lacking at the campground.
I agree with another review, if they just put in some elbow grease and of course money, this campground could be top notch.

If there was a 3.5 stars that would be my choice. 4 stars is pushing it.
As is typical with many TT parks, this one is no exception and is sorely behind on maintenance. No power at many of the sites and there are entire sections without sewer. However, the section I stayed in (A) has barely anyone in it. You can tell this section doesn't get utilized much as many of the sites have tall weed growth in them. So the trade-off for not having sewer is tons of peace and privacy. For much of my stay I was surrounded by several acres of empty sites. And as others have stated, deer are everywhere and they're not as skittish as deer typically are. The office even sells bags of dried corn for feeding the deer.
They recently added a couple of (FREE) wifi hotspots and I was close enough to connect to one. But even without wifi the Verizon signal is very strong here, 4-5 bars was typical.
Mail: There seems to be a policy spreading throughout the TT parks regarding mail: no USPS deliveries accepted (although you can still have something shipped to this address and they will hold a slip for you to pick it up at the post office 12 miles away). FedEx and UPS accepted for $5 per package.
Getting to this place feels a bit weird as you have to drive through an older and run down neighborhood to get to it, and the roads are rather beat up. Not much to do here unless you're into boating on the lake. There's also not much in the way of shopping except for a Dollar General, and getting to the outskirts of San Antonio is a good 30 minute drive.
This place definitely has its shortcomings but the peace and tranquility of the wooded surroundings are hard to beat.

This RV park has the potential to be one of the nicest in Texas if they would just spend some money on infrastructure. Example: (1) at least 25 to 30% of their sites are unusable due to needed electrical repair, (2) they had two pool tables, but one of them was missing a ball, most of the cue sticks were unusable due to the tips broken, and no chalk for cue sticks, (3) shuffle board area is very hard to make out due to needed repainting, (4) ping pong paddles are very cheep and in disrepair -- hardly usable, (5) swimming pool and hot tub out of order, (6) weekend lunch counter not used any more due to disrepair, (7) many picnic tables in bad shape, (7) very few sites have fire rings anymore because they simply have not replaced them
Very few sites have full hook up or even 50 amp service. Our 30 amp service tripped twice over a three day period on a cool day.
Staff not very flexible on simple issues that affect no one. I do not want to say much about this because I do not know what drives their decisions.
The location is fantastic. The sites for the most part are very pretty with lots of trees. The deer are everywhere and eager to be fed corn.
I think if they could spend some money to put the park back in order, this could be a five star RV park. I would go back, but I would have to think about it.

Coming in from the north was easy from I-10 at the Boerne exit St Rt 46 to Pipe Creek, turning left at St Rt. 1283. Enjoyed Cowboy pizza in Bandera. Was surprised with the rolling mountain landscape. Fun area to explore.

The park is a bit further away from things than we expected (about 1 hour to Alamo, 35-45 minutes to outskirts of San Antonio / shopping) so plan accordingly for shopping trips, etc. At the end of the drive out there is 11 miles down a smaller highway that curved a lot, so just provide time to make that part of the trip.
The campground is pretty spread out and the sites are first come, first served so you will need to look at the map and go find the best place and then good luck :)
The staff working there is very friendly as well - that is a nice part.
Noise-wise, it is very quiet and nice.
Wifi in activity center is free but pretty bad. While we were there we had a problem where cell phone coverage kept jumping in and out, so it was a little frustrating. There is a library in the city that has wifi and we did not make it there, but almost had to in order to get some work done.
Oh yes, and deer everywhere. If you are going to be there a while and want to feed the deer, bring deer corn with you.

This campground is far out from most towns and the city of San Antonio. Because we are in a 40 Ft motorhome, we are careful about routing to remote areas. Our Co-Pilot app directed us on a sketchy road, but after we stayed a few days we found better ways in and out of the area.
Apparently the Lake had really suffered from the drought and economic downturn of the area in the late 2000's, but is beginning to come back. We found a spot with an open area, not covered with trees. Most sites are tight into the trees, and back-in.
The road through the campground isn't in great shape, and you must be careful to drive slow.
The Campground is full of deer, who are not particularly afraid of humans, and get fed corn regularly by the visitors. They were numerous in our campsite every morning and evening.
There is no internet service from the campground. However, we were able to work with our Verizon coverage while there.
There are a couple of restaurants and a small grocery store in the nearby town of Lakehills, but for most things you need to drive to San Antonio.

Verizon 4 bars 4g lte and At&t 3 bars 4g lte were strong here. Lots of deer around and some great Kayaking. Caution don't follow GPS if it tries to take you from PR37 to 3rd to Spur rd, you want to follow the signs and go PR37 to 8th Street, then right on Florida st then left on Spettle Ave. Good Mexican food just down the road at the La Cabana Mexican Cafe. Hot Tub and Pool, the hot tub was great and the pool was a bit chilly this time of year. We will be back for sure. I suppose if I had to pick a negative and its not really a negative it would have to be the speed limit getting to the lower campground area near the water its 5 mph its what I term creepy slow, could still be safe at 10 mph, but I understand it needs to be that way especially during peak times when there are lots of kids on bikes etc. also it would be nice to see them save the old farm house near the pool.
