“A great place, if only...”

Reviewed Dec 06, 2018

We arrived on December 2nd, on a Sunday. We chose site #32 though there was only one other site occupied in the park. Price for our site was $20. Sites vary in size and have a fire ring, grill, water, electric and paved parking areas. There was no firewood for sale anywhere in the campground while we were there. All sites are in modera... more

“Great stopover heading back NE”

Reviewed Sep 16, 2018

Overall Rating

Great stopover. Easy access frim Rte 24/exit 88. Lovely lake views. Level site (using IPhone level). Good luck to the new management as they make much needed renovations around the campground. We are sellf-contained, so no review on the bath house or toilet facilities. This is a lovely place that will only improve in the near future!

“Filthy bath houses but a very nice park”

Reviewed Jul 01, 2018

Overall Rating

Nice, large lake with good swimming area and sandy beach. Good and easy hike around the lake for all ages. A very beautiful and well designed park. Plenty of sites to choose from on a first-come basis. Met plenty of friendly locals there. Plenty of people fishing. Now the bath houses are filthy and it’s such a shame because this pa... more

This no reservation "First Come' campground is a wonderful place to camp! The 20.30,50 amp & water hookup back sites are a generous size with most having a view of Marathom Lake. There is a boat launch,as well as designated swimming and fishing areas. Federal Interagency passes are honored, $10 for site plus $3.00 for utilities. . ... more

“What a find not far from IH-20 in Mississippi! ”

Reviewed Jul 10, 2016

Overall Rating

On the way to Georgia from Texas, I looked for campsites in the National Forests. I found Marathon Lake in Bienville National Forest not far from Jackson, Mississippi. The campsites were not very private but when we were there, only about 1/4 of the campsites were taken. The site we had was level and clean and a short walk to the water... more
