Was only there one night while heading north along US23. Great facilities, restrooms, and laundry. Nice wide private spots. Gave it four stars due to narrow and steep access road. It’s two miles of hill climb once off the highway, the last quarter mile very steep. Difficult towing anything but there were many travel trailers in both the Cove and Lovers Leap Campgrounds. Paid $40 plus tax and online fees for a total of $47.12. Not worth it for an overnight.

We had a great stay at Natural Tunnel State Park! We stayed at Site 11 in the Lover’s Leap Campground. This site was huge, private and well-maintained! It’s a gravel site that was level with water and electric hookups. The site has a picnic table, large fire pit, and second smaller table. Our site had grass and trees around it. The flowering trees were a beautiful site at this time of year! The campground was pretty empty during the week and filled up during the weekend. Even on the weekend it was a very nice, quiet relaxing place to stay!
The T-Mobile and Verizon cell service here is pretty good. My fiancé was able to work remotely on a Verizon jetpack and we didn’t even need to put up our cell booster. Our phones which are Verizon and T-Mobile worked fine for the most part and were even able to stream Netflix but then other times wouldn’t load an internet page so that was odd. I had one to two Verizon bars and he had one to two T-Mobile bars.
The bathhouse was very clean and had private shower stalls, which is really nice! The water didn’t get too hot in the showers though. There is a laundry room attached to the bathhouse. It was only $1 to wash and $1 to dry (and the dryers actually worked with one cycle!) We live in our camper full time so it was really nice to be able to get some laundry done for such a cheap price! The dump station is pretty standard. Only one station so there was a decent line to dump when we left on Sunday. There is a camp store and I believe the camp host sells firewood. The camp host, Ed, was very friendly throughout our stay!
There isn’t a whole lot to do in this park, only a few miles of hiking trails to and from the Natural Tunnel. The tunnel is really cool and definitely worth checking out! This was a great park for us to relax at for five days, but we probably would have been a little bored if we stayed much longer.
Site 11 was one of the best sites in our opinion but all of the sites are great options in this loop! We would definitely stay here again if in the area. The other campground in the park, Cove View, is very nice too with some pull through sites but looked a little less private.

As other reviewers stated, its a steep climb into the campground (CG) area but doable. As other reviewers stated, its a steep climb into the campground (CG) area but doable. At the main park entrance keep going straight and veer to the right up the hill to cabins/CGs to get to Lover's Leap and Cove View CG areas. The office was closed so we grabbed a park map and headed to back-in site 10 with 50 AMP and water. Our tags were already on our site post so we did not have to check in. The water pressure was 60+ so I used my pressure reducer. I also had to use Teflon tape to get a good seal on my pressure reducer. I noticed that other campers had similar problems evident by the water spray coming off the spigot. Site 10 is a great site with plenty of distance between adjacent sites and a huge yard area, probably the best site in the two loops (Lover's Leap & Cove View). Site 9 would also be one of the better sites. The adjacent Cove View CG is older and the sites are closer together. The yurts are also there. Cove View does have a few sites that will take larger rigs. I would definitely suggest staying in the Lover's Leap loop regardless of what size of rig you have because the sites are more spacious. We got a few OTA channels, but only one major channel. AT&T and Verizon were 2 bars. The bath house was newer, clean, and there’s a laundry with 2 washers & dryers at a $1.00 a piece. Most of the Lover's Leap sites have a clear shot to the southern sky for satellite. The trails out of and around the campground are worth the hikes. The most aggressive was to Lover's Leap Overlook and then down to the Natural Tunnel via Lover's Leap Trail. I wouldn't recommend Lover's Leap Trail if you are very afraid of heights. It goes along the rim and while it does have a fence to protect you from falling, it can still be quite scary. You can drive down to the Natural Tunnel where there’s a parking lot and chair lift down/up (seasonal) to the Tunnel. The Purchase Ridge Trail also goes out of the CG and is a moderate hike through the valley forest but without the stunning views of the Lover's Leap Trail and Natural Tunnel areas. There are other hiking trails and historical sites in the area. Duffield is about 15 minutes away and has gas stations with diesel, a medium sized grocery store, Dollar General, and a few restaurants. This was a quiet campground and we enjoyed our stay.

Over a million years old! They also had a chair lift. We did not ride it. We went near Halloween and they had a day filled with activities for young and old.

We booked online for 4 nights and totally enjoyed the State Park in the fall although day temps were abnormally warm, the nights were excellent to sit by the campfire. We arrived during the week day and hardly anyone around. Check-in staff were very nice as were all park staff we met. Our site at Lovers Leap camping area was perfect for our 38’ Class A w/tow. While we the site had 50A/Water only, the privacy of the site made up for not having sewer connection which a dump station was nearby. This is one of the nicest parks and camping facilities we seen in awhile. The bath houses were great and included washer/dryers. We walked the trails toward the Natural Tunnel for exercise. A delicious little drive-in eatery is not far away with burgers and milk shakes. We will be back.

This is one of our favorite local parks, so favorite that 7 years ago, we started hosting here a couple of months each year. It has two campgrounds, Lover's Leap (30/50 amp) 17 back-in sites, 1 pull-thru and Cove View (20/30 amp) 16 pull-thru sites that is not appropriate for anything over 35 ft in length. Lover's Leap is a circle with 3 sites on the inside of the circle and the rest around the outside edge. The way they are configured, you have plenty of privacy. Sites 13 (pull-thru) and 14 are "buddy sites". All sites are gravel and pea gravel and have fire pits. These sites range in length from 50 ft to 85 ft in length.
Cove View is all pull-thru sites and it is on a slight incline, so the sites are sort of tiered with 2-3 sites on each column and 6 rows. There is a nice bath house that is older, but is kept very cleaned - cleaned twice per day by the staff. All sites have a fire pit in the grassy area of each site and the site is gravel.
There is much to do inside the park with the Natural Tunnel being the highlight. The park is open from 8 am until dusk. The chairlift operates during the summer season from 10-6 daily. In the spring and in the late fall, the chairlift operates on Saturday and Sunday. The park is located in the mountains, so you have some steep hills to climb, both in your vehicle or on the trails. That's what gives the spectacular views. The swimming pool usually opens the weekend prior to Memorial Day and is open daily until Labor Day.

We didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time here but trusted the other reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Bath house in the Lovers Loop was really clean and nice showers. Sites looked mostly level with modern upgrades power posts. I would like to come back and explore this park more.

Perfect, level gravel pad. Easy to back in our 32-footer. We enjoyed our hikes down into the gorge where we caught a Chairlift for only $2 down to the walkway that led us to the large Natural Tunnel formed into the side of the mountain. Very interesting historical information. Lovely gift shop. We are sorry that the Christmas lighting of the Tunnel was cancelled that night due to heavy rains that moved into the area. CAUTION: Entrance to the Park is a VERY steep short hill up to Park's level. Doable but just go slow.

If your coming to the area treat yourself to a stay in this park. You'll want to book a reservation Shara's of time and get yourself a site on the lovers leap loop. The sites here are really top choice with privacy, good water, and 50a electric connections. Site 10 was right next to the bath house which is not nomally my first choice but the view was incredible for a campground with hookups. We stayed here for thanksgiving and there was only one other class A and one other group of tent campers. Off season reservations are not needed. You can self serve at the kiosk on your honor. There is no camp host off season. We saw the ranger drive around one morning so your not totally alone even though it feels like it. We had family stay in the cabins that are about a 1/4 mile down the road and are also incredible. I rode about half the mountain biking trails in an hour and they were also in impressive condition. I will definitely be coming back if I'm in this area again.
