Overall Rating

We like these dry camping spots in the state forest when the hunters take over the national forest. The cost is low and the drive can be a tiny bit rough but these spots are well worth it. They’re quiet, you can barely see your neighbors and the closest ones are 80 yards away if the spots are even occupied. It’s a great getaway.

From Hwy 98 in Carrabelle turn north onto Hwy 67 (Tallahassee Street) and continue for close to 14 miles to the well-marked dirt road on the right for the Womack Creek Unit. Follow the well-traveled road, which turns left then right as it becomes Log Cabin Road about 2 miles. The road comes to site #23. Turn right and continue to the end of the road almost 3/4 mile. Site #25 will be on the left and #26 on the right. Please review the overall map for campsites at Tate's Hell State Forest.
