It rained and hailed most of the nights we were there which made it super cozy. We loved the dog park that is there and our two springers did too. We stayed here while we visited Bend and would definitely do it again. Internet was pretty consistently good.

The campground is extremely organized. Shady trees. Sparkling clean bathrooms. The only downside is that it was really dusty. No fault of the campground, that's just the area.

We were in N Loop. Sites have water and electric (20 amp). This was enough for us to run AC. The space in this loop are bigger and more private than those in the other loops. The hosts were very nice and helpful.
We didn't spend a lot of time at our campsite because we were enjoying the wonderful park and surrounding public lands. The bike trails are mostly well-marked, flat and uncrowded. The campgrounds were completely full but nobody was on the trails!
Many of the trails are along the Deschutes River. This is an amazing area to float -- wide, slow moving river. Bald eagles, herons, otters, beavers, owls are all commonly spotted especially if you're on the trails around dusk.
We especially loved the Fall River trail. The falls are gorgeous. There's a big clear, cold pool at the bottom of the falls with wildflowers blooming along the shore, swallows zipping about. We saw a kingfisher here.
Reception was not very good. I got 2 bars with my Verizon mifi with an antenna. It was enough to work but it was sometimes painfullly slow. I had no Google Fi reception.

LaPine State Park and the miles of yet to be explored wilderness offers unlimited outdoor activities, i.e. hiking, fishing, kayaking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing. Located on the Deschutes River and surrounded by a lodgepole and ponderosa pine forest, the campground features 3 loops (north, middle and south), offering 129 campsites. There are also 10 cabins for rent. The Middle Loop featured full hook up sites, back-in and pull throughs, with many large enough to accommodate the longest rv. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. The North Loop offered only water and 20 amp electric. The South Loop, where the cabins are located also has full hook up sites. Showers and flush toilets are located within each loop and there is an easy access dump station located at the entrance to the campground.
The campground hosts within each loop kept each site cleaned and raked ready for each new guests. Firewood is sold at the entrance to each loop. You are located so close to Bend, Sunriver and the Newberry Crater where many more unique attractions exist. So if you really want to explore and enjoy Central Oregon, this is the campground to consider.

First timers to La Pine SP. Booked online not knowing a thing about the park. Once we arrived, we found there were 3 loops. The North loop, where we were, was a bit tired, interior roads/site pads need paving, but we managed; has 20 amp & water BUT has spacious sites which are usually expected in state parks (the only caveat to this is site 141, don't book if possible as site next door on the cocktail side and site 141 on the driver side are total fishbowls. We took a spin around the Middle and South loops to find brand new paved roads and sites BUT camping was much more condensed. Given our choice, we landed in the right loop. However, with time should this one get a new paving, more sites may be added? Let's hope not. Restrooms are adequate but also a bit tired. There is a fabulous fenced dawg park about 1/4 mile walk from North Loop. The town of La Pine is about a 5-mile drive. Come stocked up, sit back and relax! 4G 1 bar; with boost becomes 3 bars.

Typical state park, but I hate how the whole system is now rigged to rip off campers. You can only be sure of getting a spot if you reserve well in advance, and then you have to pay an extra $8 reservation fee. They do have a few walk up sites, but they are in the full hookup section, so you will be paying the maximum amount even if you don’t need electric/water/dump. I don’t need ANY hookups but still had to pay for an electric site because they don’t have ANY dry camping. They are catering to well-off, anal retentive campers whose lives are so regimented, they can plan 6 months in advance. Meanwhile, NF campgrounds and BLM site are closing down by all over the place. So disappointing.
This campground right on the Dechutes River, but you won’t see it or hear it because, even though it looks like some campsites are right on the River (on the campground map), they are not any where near it. You have to hike down to it to see it.
No-one is in the booth when you drive up, everything is self serve or you have to call the reservation line. Typical “amenities” including dump, water, showers. Sites are very close together. Total meh.

The camp was really busy and spots are close to each other but there are lots of trees to create privacy. Major downer for me was no cell signal - I work remotely so I took the short drive to McGregor View Point to get enough service to use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop. I also drove to Brewed Awakenings in Sunriver for coffee, WiFi and the nearby grocery store.
Our toddler loved playing in the river at one of the nearby day use areas. Firewood bundles were only $5 👍
