The campground is close to Bakersfield, extremely well maintained, and in a lovely setting by the river. The showers and bathrooms are wonderfully clean. The campground is spacious with a lot of grass, big trees and lots of ground squirrels. We enjoyed it for one night stay.

The campground is shaped as a figure 8 with sites on the inside and outside of the loop. All of the sites are flat, paved spurs off the one lane, paved campground road and they’re pretty much identical except some have more shade or sun than others. It looks like they’d all take our 35-foot fifth wheel and truck, but some of the spurs are a shallower curve than others. Just decide whether you want your door or slides to open into your campsite. Look at Google maps to help plot your plan.
It’s nice that there’s decent space between each site. It’s March 1, 2024 and the grass is very long but that may change when the rains lessen.
Every site has the usual aluminum picnic table on a concrete slab, typical steel fire ring and barbecue grill and a massive green trash barrel. I didn’t see any dumpsters.
There is water every 3 or 4 sites but not all of them have threaded spigots. The very friendly camp host says it’s all potable water so just pullover near a spigot and fill up if your site doesn’t have a spigot.
The dump station is at the center of the campground on your way out.
Two sets of brand new showers and bathrooms (with plugs) on each loop. 4 showers and 4 bathrooms in each set.
So many squirrels it’s crazy! Lots of birds including robins, sparrows, hawks, geese, ducks and doves.
2 bars Verizon.
Try Me n Ed’s Pizza 👍
I hope that helps.

This campground is by reservation only on the Kern County web site. Same day reservations are available if you arrive without a reservation. There is a nice walk or bike ride to Lake Ming. There is also a paved bike trail to Hart Park, but the pavement is in poor condition. Quiet camp except for generator noise.

The campground was filthy, there was trash all along the River: diapers, fast food containers.,..
We did not venture into the restrooms for fear of more disappointment.
The camp host hid in the trailer, we never saw anyone checking around, the off duty sign was always out.
We left early, what a shame, it could be so nice.

New to RVing, so we have limited comparison ability. I picked it, my wife was happy. We were in site 17. Smallest site, but because of that, we were closest to the water. Only about 10 sites used when we were there. Be aware... the sites are on a one way 'road' so if you were in our site 17, you would have been required to pull in the site with the passenger side facing away from site. Not cool when you don't know that. Since that park was close to empty, folks had driven in going 'the wrong way' to get the passenger side on the camp side. So we did too!! If the park is busy, I don't think you can do this since you may have to back up. We had a toad, which makes that impossible. I understand that this place can get crazy in the summer around the week end. I don't doubt it. It was nice and quiet when we where there. Maintenance seemed pretty good. Bathrooms were OLD. The kind that you can't make look clean. The showers didn't seem to work. Like a lot of places, they nickel and dime you on fees (IE reservation fee, dog fee, etc). The $20.00 above included our dog and reservation fee. We camped at Kern River Campground in a 31 ft Motorhome.

When I spoke to the host about the state of the restrooms he explained that the restrooms are to be replaced soon. Not sure what that means, but it doesn't explain unsanitary conditions, doors off of the hinges and a shower that was completely unusable. However, I did receive a senior discount.

I checked out the restrooms/showers and was put off by how dirty they were. The were very dated and not kept up well.
Even though the restrooms were nasty, the price we paid for our huge site made it worth it.

Weird sign in process at a machine that didn’t even give us a receipt to show we had paid. Noisy and overpriced for no hook ups. Toilets were disgusting
