I will say that the group firing were in a depressed area with berms and they had targets set up against the berms. They also had a lookout who spotted me and acknowledged my presence. However, later groups weren't nearly as responsible. Gunfire lasted nearly to midnight, and at one point was more than one automatic weapon fired, at what target in the dark?. Overall, way too many knuckleheads for my taste, and would recommend that anyone thinking to stay at this location, find someplace safer.

Stayed here after researching all the reviews and other sites nearby. Having a rain storm preceeding my stay I opted for the first right turn after the dry lake bed option which led me to the hills. Was joined by two like thinking RVs . However a suv drove by about 10:30 and I curious if the party was going to sleep in their suv. Then about 11:30 gun fire started further up the hill towards the freeway every 30 minutes. Had to 1/4 mile at most but out of sight. Then at 2 am machine gun fire started every 30 minutes as well. After the first burst, the other 2 RVs left and I did after the 3rd burst hoping they would just go away. Police just asked if I thought it was Target practice. I said if it was it would be to take over the government st night 🤔 Turned around and went left towards a plant with tons of floodlights but before the larger road and was happier I wasn't bothered by any noise, although I slept uneasily.
Anyway on the way back from my 2 week stay in Utah, I found a really better site at Ivanpah dry lake dispersed west blm. Much easier to get to and safer as it was walking distance to 2 large businesses. Might be a bit more noisy, but safer as well. Another site by same name on east side using same offramp. Don't use Google Maps for east side.

The dust was extremely deep and it just wasn’t worth driving all the way out there with no cell service. Well one bar.

In just a short walk within 20yrds around my RV I was able to fill 2 trash bags with bottles, shot gun shells, spent fireworks, fast food containers, and various other debris. I had to leave the larger pieces (tire, fender, set-up folding chair) behind.

Short drive off the highway. Stayed just past the marked spot on the map. Lot of other locations. As others state, mainly used for OHV, but access road is paved.

We stopped here overnight on our way through Vegas. Plenty of space for a big
Rig and very easy access. We are in a 35 ft fifth wheel. Quiet at night. Windy while we were there. Gorgeous views.

Drive down the paved Ranch Road to get to several pull-off sites. You can also drive onto the dry lake bed and camp anywhere. Gravel sites were level and ours had a large fire pit. We picked up nails where other campers had burned lumber but otherwise the site was clean and free of much trash.
Great place to let the dogs run around, just watch out for snakes (we never saw any but there are holes).
On the weekends the place has lots of OHVs, dirt bikes, etc so expect some noise. We stayed for 14 days at the end of March and everyone was courteous (slowed down when nearing the campsite to keep from stirring up dust).
Lots of sun for solar, it got windy for about 1/3 of the time we stayed. This could be seasonal though.

We had full AT&T bars.
