In general the Arizona state parks are nicely located, well-maintained and a pleasant camping experience. Fool Hollow Lake is one of their jewels. It's on the Mogollon Rim at about 6,300 feet in elevation, therefore, much cooler that other parts of the state. The campground is nestled in ponderosa pines and junipers along the shores of a small lake. The sites are well-spaced though there are several that are set up as doubles for larger groups. Our campsite had full hookups. They have loops with just water and electricity and others that are for tents only.
The staff and volunteers do a great job of keeping the campground and facilities clean. The bathrooms near our site were well-cleaned every morning.
We arrived a week after heavy rainfall that filled the lake and left the vegetation lush. All in all a lovely few days escaping the heat of the desert.
One note: it is a popular campground therefore hard to reserve. Plan ahead.

One of the most peaceful places we've camped since leaving home last September. Campground is very clean and well maintained. Restrooms clean, there are showers. We stayed in Mallard loop and lucked into a site with a view of the lake. Walking trail around the lake is mostly flat, there is fishing in the lake although we didn't try it. Campground is far enough from town to allow for star gazing. The town of Show Low is close enough for resupplying or dining out, and we arranged to have a package delivered to the Amazon pickup site at the Circle K nearby. Will admit we got a little turned around getting into the campground itself, could be navigator error though.
Definitely a do-over.

Excellent place to camp by the lake. Large campground with many spaces that have views and very close to the lake. Very peaceful and plenty of places nearby to explore. Only stayed one night to check it out as space availability was limited due to popularity. Will have to come again and reserve way in advance. Lake has plenty of geese and fish for those who like that sort of thing. There's a shoreline along most of it where you can walk right up to the water. It's very calm and not very large.

Nice site with plenty of space between sites. Pad was nice and level and camp hosts were very pleasant helpful. Shirt walk to the lake The only negative is that the parks electrical system is weak. When running the A/C my Progressive Industry’s EMS was reading 104 volts and the EMS kept shutting off power to the RV.

After a blown tire, damaged tail pipe & my outside plumbing destroyed by the blown tire, I finally made it to fool hollow. James is so helpful & good at what he does. But don't be Hispanic & run into Ranger bigot Ray. I accidentaly went the wrong way as did my white neighbor. I was 2" on the dirt, while my white neighbor had his truck 1/2 of it on the dirt.. He didn't say much to my white neighbor, but what a ass chewing I got. Then he had the nerve to tell his partner that I was nothing but a trouble maker. I wanted to confront him, but it was to early in my stay to do ..that!!! My white neighbor also damaged the water faucet & knocked down the pole that holds the pass. Nothing was said or done about it. The other rangers could smile a little...
