This is a large area with lots of roads leading off the main Elgin Park Loop road. Many firepits, generally located along the tree line, but boondocking out in the open is also possible in many locations. Only drawback is that the area is popular with ATV enthusiasts. We stopped for one night on our way from South Dakota to Yellowstone. We got in pretty late but were able to find a little spot right off the road. The views of the snow capped mountains were beautiful. The road in and out was dirt and very manageable.

The Elgin Park Trailhead in Bighorn National Forest is a surprisingly popular boondocking spot. I was expecting it to be a bit more isolated due to the location, but there were many RV's when we were there in early September. The location is beautiful and access is great.
