“First Major Open Area On FR550 From The South”

If you're driving up from Steamboat Lake on FR550, there aren't any real opportunities for dispersed camping once you cross the Wyoming border. The forest is just too dense, the hillsides too steep, and there aren't any meaningful spurs. I counted maybe 4 or 5 single sites where I would risk boondocking my 20-foot trailer after crossing the Wyoming border. Dead Horse Park is the first convenient, "normal" place to set up. It's about a 4-acre park with plenty of places to set up shop. There's also another area down an incline and in the trees for more adventurous folks.

No cell coverage right at the spot, but I had 2 bars of usable signal just a quarter of a mile or so back south on FR550.
