“Beautiful high-altitude camping”

Overall Rating

Yes, as others have said the Camp May/Ski Hill Road is steep, and my Tundra struggled to pull our 7,000-lb trailer up some of the grades. Thus 3 stars for access. But it's worth it to get up to 9,300 feet and out of the heat. It's 10 degrees cooler than Los Alamos, and over 20 degrees cooler than the desert east of town. Sites are s... more

“Camp May - A correction”

I wanted to make a correction: There is a fee to camp at Camp May. I think it's in the range of $15 and you have to pay the county. I would call the county 311 line for information. Located past the parking lots for the ski area, and 1700' higher than when you turned up the road from town, you'll find the Cape May camping area.
