I spent three quiet nights here and it was great for what I needed. The drive in is a well maintained dirt road with just a few small pot holes. The campground loop is pretty much split between sites you have to reserve in advance and first come-first served sites. I got here on a Thursday and most of the first come-first served sites were open and probably half of the reservable sites were open. The site I picked required no leveling and was one of the smaller sites, I'm only 23 ft and would park in this site with something bigger than 28 ft. There is a nice 9.5 mile trail that passes by the campground loop or you can walk down the road .2 miles and start at the trailhead. Other than hiking/horseback riding there's not much to do here. But if you need a quiet setting to relax or get work done this is a nice place to be. The vault toilets were clean and well maintained. There is a 14 day stay limit. My Verizon jetpack got 31.31 download/12.2 upload speeds.

This place was a perfect spot this week. It is fairly secluded, underutilized (only a couple of campers each night), well maintained, inexpensive, and has a clean spot to poo.
5 out of 5, would poop here again.

Great one night stay. Lots of level spots to pull your RV onto. Paid $5 . Clean vault toilets. Had no reservations, first come first serve on about half the sites. The camp had two left. We parked our 24ft. Rig on site 7. No leveling required perfectly level.

Was traveling and camping on way to Charleston SC from ILL and this is about 2 1/2 hrs from my destination. Half the sites of the 17 total are reservable on Rev.gov. The price is great, sites are large and spaced. 5 mi off exit 60 on I26.

Great stopping point on the road. Only about 3 miles off I-26. Great level sights. Cell service from t-mobile was great (Verizon just ok). Would definitely return.

Finally an almost off grid kind of place.
The road is well maintained.
Pit toilets are available and decent.
Nice shade and level sights.
Lots of trails, a lot of the horses were out and about while camping.
Nice to finally find some quiet.
Not all the sites had fire pits with a grill, so if that’s important I’d recommend getting there before picking a site.
We stayed Saturday and Sunday and Saturday night we had 4 other campers and Sunday just one other guest that pulled in late.

There is a cost now for it, but it is only $5. Pit toilets that were stocked and fairly clean, level spots that were spread out enough to not feel crowded.
There was a couple that seems to be regulars in the campground that ran their generator through the evening, all night, and was still running when we left later the next morning. We were far enough away that it didn’t really bother us at all but something for sure to keep in mind in case they continue to visit and continue to use their generator.
Easy access as well and I would expect most sized rigs to fit fairly easily.
All and all would stay here again.

Also, located very near I-26, so great for travelers looking for a stop over. Spoke to a Ranger who stated they were getting ready to go to recreation.gov to reserve sites but plan to leave a few sites open for drop-ins. Great place to explore the horse trails and hiking trails and enjoy nature. Fire pits and picnic tables at each site.

Easy access of the highway and no issues with a 40' 5er. You can make the loop easily, maybe a couple small branches at 12-13' will brush the roof. Pulled in on a Saturday afternoon in March and there were still a couple sites that would accommodate us. $5 a night but $2.50 with our America the Beautiful Pass (yes, the regular one). Lots of horse campers here that cleared out on Sunday morning. I would expect that this time of year on a weeknight you'd have this place pretty much to yourself. There was one tarp-tent type setup that looked like it may have been there for awhile, but not sure - maybe they were abiding by the 14 day stay limit? Forest Service truck pulled through once. Nice dead-end road to walk on. There is an equestrian parking area nearby the campground that I'm not sure, but maybe could be used as overflow if you pay your fee. No power, water, or dump. Just a nice place to spend a night or two. Great Visible speed on the Verizon service.
