We stayed here in early September for 3 nights, the rate reflects our America the Beautiful Pass discount. The campground is well maintained, clean, quiet, and peaceful surrounded by a forest of pine trees. The campground has flush toilets, water, and trash containers, the wonderful campground hosts sell firewood and ice. This is a great location to hike the many trails and visit the Sunset Crater National Monument. Wupatki National Monument is located nearby, 20 mile drive, with ancient pueblos and a visitors center.

Half of the campground is by reservation now and half remains first come first serve. The road and sites are paved, flush toilets and beautiful scenery. Some people were getting cell reception if they had cell boosters. If not, there is reception a couple of miles away. Regular price is $26. It's half that if you have an Access Pass (America the Beautiful).

Dry camping in lava fields covered with ponderosa pines. Huge sites that are paved, level & accommodate RVs and tents. Fire rings, grills and picnic bench at each site. Camp host, clean flush toilets, potable water.
Some sites are can be reserved at recreation.gov, others are FF. Highly recommended!

VERY clean restrooms and camping areas. Helpful host and staff. Smells like a proper pine forest. A BAHjillion stars at night! And you are in Sunset Crater park which is fascinating and a bit surreal, and Wupatki which is a spectacular place to see ancient pueblos and learn about the first people in the area. If you need an easy dinner night order from Pizzicletta in Flagstaff- best pizza!!! We will definitely stay here again!

Got there after the host was off duty. Around 5pm. But he and the park ranger were helpful. We had a national park pass so it was half price. $13.00.
Park is great and would highly recommend it.

The bathrooms were spotless, but they lacked hand soap (I brought my own), however the hand sanitizer was plentiful outside the building.
Fire rings were awesome and we appreciated being able to have a fire in these designated areas despite local fire restrictions.
There are some great walking/hiking trials at Sunset Crater and the Indian Ruins about 18 miles up the road are cool to check out too.
Cell service was non existent for us, which is a good thing sometimes!

No cell service in the campground itself but if you head out to the road you might get service.

Best campground hosts I have ever encountered! Friendly and efficient! We loved it here. Our stay was cut short as we had some truck problems, but will definitely be back. No hook ups or dump station, but we’re used to dry camping.
