We loved everything about this campsite. The proximity to the National Monuments, the large spacious sites and the hosts were wonderful! We were also close enough to Flagstaff to make a day trip. We will be back for sure.

Sites 1-22 are FF; rest of the sites are on recreation.gov. Campground is a ONE-way loop, with 44 campsites. However there is no map on reservation.gov.;; beware the inner loop campsites, that are along the road, not backins... If you are in an RV, your door will open to the road (#3, 5, 14, 21, 28, 30, 36, 39, 41, 43). These sites are best suited for tent camping.. Attaching picture to help.
Very clean bathrooms. $8 firewood - good burning wood. Water is limited to 5 gallons/day.
Have to drive 1.5 miles for cell service at a trailhead.
This is a dark sky park. Wonderful visitor center across the street. Amazing lava flows.
Unfortunately amphitheater was flooded and not reopened. Ranger programs are conducted thru the visitor center.
Dump station: Go to the KOA in flagstaff (buy one, get one free: $15.00) OR if driving north, go to the Cameron trading post which has an RV park ($5 dump, $5 water)...
Be sure to visit Wapiti National monument and the prehistoric pueblos.

Very nice campground with lots of spaces between sites. Unfortunately there was no cell and no hose bibs for water for our RV. There was water at the bathrooms to tote back to your site We would stay here again now that we know what is at the campground

The flush toilets worked well & restrooms were clean. Plenty of water for personal use. Sooo quiet as there is no cell service or wifi. I appreciated being able to have a wood fire to sit around and gaze at the millions of stars above. This campground is a new favorite! Only negative was the price, especially in a campground with no hookups, showers, cell service.

We were in AZ and Maricopa County Parks has a summer ban on camp fires. YEAH!
It’s 85º in our campground here and half feel the need for a campfire.
Stop the nonsense~

No hookups, drinking water (not to fill RV tanks) and clean flush toilets with very attentive hosts. All of the even number sites are on the inside of the loop with odd numbers obviously on the outer, sites 1-22 are first come first serve with a 14 day stay limit. The rest can be booked through recreation.gov. Area was extremely quiet and the dark skies make for outstanding stargazing. Recent wildfire damage in area that is still currently keeping a couple of the Sunset Crater NP trails closed.

Take the scenic drive loop depending on direction traveling to see the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument and Wupatki Pueblo.

The campground is well maintained, clean, quiet, and peaceful surrounded by a forest of pine trees. The campground has flush toilets, water, and trash containers, the wonderful campground hosts sell firewood and ice. This is a great location to hike the many trails and visit the Sunset Crater National Monument. Wupatki National Monument is located nearby, 20 mile drive, with ancient pueblos and a visitors center.
