“Primitive state forest camping on Bear Lake”

Reviewed 6/20/2019

Nightly rate: $14

Overall Rating

The campsites have the typical primitive Minnesota state forest setup, with a fire ring and picnic table. Half the campground has views of the lake, but is quite cramped, while the other half is more forested with increased privacy. $14 a night, no electricity, no running water. There's a boat launch and dock at the campground. It's quite a long road to get here, but it's worth it.

I essentially had no cell service on AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile, though all of the carriers at times would pop in briefly with a blip of service.

The campground was quiet, though people in the picnic area or out on the lake could in theory be loud.
