“Open primitive area”
Reviewed 5/3/2020
No shade, no cell, open sandy area, open pit bathrooms, tent camping preferred due to slanted shoreline. Watch out on the way up there by the dam since it is one lane only with lots of blind corners. The road turns to dirt and washboards about a mile before the dam.
Chinstrap would stay here again

We didn’t make it out to the GPS coordinates for this location with our rig. We actually turned around before Arrowrock Dam because an oncoming driver was concerned that loose rocks from the cliff above the road might fall on our solar panels. The driver also said that the road gets really narrow and we weren’t in the mood to take our chances.
Two days later, we drove across the dam with our truck to scout out the area, but still didn’t make it to the GPS coordinates.
The road past Arrowrock Dam is full of potholes. Be prepared to take it slow with your rig. From what I’ve read, N. Fork Boise River Rd. doesn’t ever get better the longer you’re on it.
The section of road near the dam is one-lane traffic only. There are a lot of loose rocks on the ground from tumbling off the cliff above. The road here becomes narrow and twisty. There’s also one section where a chunk of the rock face juts out over the road a bit. I don’t think any tall rigs will hit it driving by, but be careful.
I don’t recommend any towables over 25 ft. long or any class A rigs. The corners are probably too tight. If you have a large rig and decide you do want to give it a shot, please scout it out first. Leave your rig at the pullout with the vault toilet next to “5 Flat Mile” sign or the pull out right after this sign. There aren’t any good places to turn around after these.
SLOW DOWN right before the paved road turns to gravel after the second pull out mentioned above. There’s a large dip right where the paved road ends.
There are a few boondocking sites along N. Fork Boise River Rd after the dam. There were lots of RVs in those spots and along the shores of the lake over the weekend. Also, we didn't have any Verizon cell service after the dam.
