“Amazing Stay & Location in San Diego”

I was fortunate enough to stay here from April 7th until April 21st and all I can say is that this place is FIVE STARS all the way. Again, I was here 14 nights and I have never been in an RV park this big where as soon as the sun went down you could literally hear a pin drop - it was insanely quiet every single night. Okay, here is the Cliff Notes version of my 14 days here:

1. There is only one (1) entrance to the park and be sure you turn RIGHT at the stop sign at the bottom of the hill and then park in the massive parking lot you will see by the softball fields. If you don't turn right and you try to continue straight through the yellow gate to get to the 'check-in building' you will never get your rig out of there.

2. There are a ton of sites and I am pretty sure that all of them are concrete pads (maybe one in the corner was just gravel) with full hookups and the sites were immaculate. Can't remember the last time I was at a park that was this clean.

3. Starlink was off-the-charts awesome. I was averaging 150 down/20 up for all 14 days. My AT&T hotspot had max bars of 5G Ultra Wide Band and my T-Mobile hotspot had max bars of 5G the entire time. Even my phone, which is Verizon, had 3-4 bars of 5G...and Verizon is usually terrible on the west coast. There were a few sites where you might have to put your Starlink on the ground to avoid the trees, but in general almost every site looks like it will work with Starlink

4. Checking in: Remember, turn RIGHT at the stop sign at the base of the hill you come down. You will see an Army National Guard building to your right and a massive parking lot area on your left. Park in that massive lot and then walk along the gravel path to the check-in building. The ladies who worked in the office were all incredibly nice and helpful. Amazon dropped a package off there for me and they actually brought it down to my space...top shelf customer service for sure!!!

5. Other Military Bases: I read the comment by another reviewer about road noise, but I was on the side closest to the road (Spot #3) and I didn't hear anything. Again, I was totally blown away by how quiet this place was! I am currently at Fiddler's Cove for 14 days and it has been like a scene out of Apocalypse Now with live fire exercises and osprey helicopters flying over...incredibly noisy. In fact, you could smell the gunpowder (or whatever it was from the shooting) as the wind was blowing it into the park.

6: Showers/Bathrooms: I didn't use the showers, but did peek in there and just like the bathrooms they were incredibly clean every morning. There was a crew (like almost all of the military bases I have stayed at) that was cleaning literally every day. Really nice!

7. Space #3: I can only hope to get this space when I come back here. The spot is HUGE and once I unhooked my rig, I had room to park my truck and probably could have easily gotten another car in there too. The space was insane.

8. The Checklist: Another reviewer commented on 'the checklist' and having to initial it in 500 different locations, LOL, and yes, there were at least 3 different documents I had to initial in a ton of spaces, but it isn't that big of a deal. I honestly believe that the rules are there for a reason and it definitely helps to maintain order in the park. I've been to non-military parks where it is just a free-for-all and the places are a mess. I'll initial all day for a park this clean and orderly.

Again, this place is 5 stars all the way for me and I was blown away at how quiet it was at night. The photos I took from up on the road that is above the park and if you like to walk, this is a pretty good challenge! Enjoy!

It is a DoD facility and you do need military ID (Active, Retired or Sponsor) or DoD Civilian Employee to check in.

They close the office at 4 pm but we were met at about 4:30 by the Host or one of the employees at the site after confirming late arrival earlier on the phone. Check-in is at facility Check-In Building that serves the Athletic Fields and RV Park. It's about 100 yards away from the RV Park.

It's pretty convenient to most of the San Diego attractions. There are some strip malls with all kinds of foods, markets and a small brewery outlet less than a mile away by car, but not easily walkable. Some traffic noise, but we were at the close to the main road end of the park.Sirens got a lot of reactions from the local coyotes. Some airplane noise from the approach to Montgomery Field. No jet noise.Qualcomm (?) Stadium traffic may cause jams in the area of the park entrance.

The sites are pretty tight, comparable to most lower cost RV parks in SoCal near the coast. They have a comprehensive set of rules.including a "modesty" dress code and the ID Card Holder needs to initial each one on a list and sign. Pets are not allowed, but I saw several being walked. I suspect that they belong to some of Active Duty families that are staying there before moving in to Housing.
