We found this state campground on the internet and were pleasantly surprised at the location and price. The park is located in Santee, just outside of San Diego, within Mission Trails Regional Park. The area is not as congested as directly in San Diego. The sites are only available on Friday and Saturday nights, with limited Sunday nights available on some holiday weekends. It is a rustic campground with gravel sites, fire pits and picnic tables. Please note only certain sites are allowed generator use. The reservation site has dimension information for each site, so read carefully to pick the site which best suites your needs. We chose site 22 to accommodate our 27' trailer. The trailer fit nicely, with area to park the truck. The park had numerous hiking, biking trails accessible from the campground. There was a small, local airport nearby. While sitting outside, you could faintly hear some small planes flying. However, you could not hear them inside the trailer. The hiking and campground was great. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely stay at Kumeyaay.
