Nice stop about 15 minutes south of i70. Near Clinton Lake. Primitive campground with several cars parked and a car/tent. We did not see any people even though the cars were parked all night. Very quiet, peaceful area. Would recommend staying here if you are traveling in the area.

“Lovely camping close to Lawrence”

Stayed here in my hammock on 2021-06-27 and 28. Very easy to access from Lawrence, though there is a steep gravel slope just before the entrance that looks like it could be a little dicey in very wet weather, and the site itself does get very muddy when it rains. The campground is located in a charming little osage orange grove, and the spacing of many of the trees is very conducive to hammock camping. There are pit toilets and a dumpster provided, though it was close to overflowing, and in any case it would be considerate to pack out your own trash given the area is meant to be semi-primitive. Several fire rings and picnic tables are also provided. A very friendly ranger stopped by just before sunset the first night to check on things.

Feels much farther from the city than it is. Lots of wildlife around, including owls and a very curious racoon who tried to steal some of my stuff! :) Great place to stay if you're spending some time in the Lawrence area, or just passing through!
