Whitebreast Campground

While we enjoyed our 4 nights here in late September, this park just doesn't have many of the same qualities we have come to love in Corps of Engineers campgrounds. The sites aren't as spacious and as well spaced as other COE facilities and the site pads aren't as level. Despite that, this is still a good facility and a great value (especially with the 50% senior pass discount). The camp host was very helpful. Access to here is fairly easy after crossing over the Lake Red Rock Dam. Prior to arriving at the gate house, there is a dump station with potable water. There are water spigots spread around the camp and most sites offer 50 amp electric. The interior roads are a little tighter than we are accustomed to in most other Corp campgrounds. Backing into our spot took a little extra effort and caution. Site 17 has a huge amount of open space on the door side as the next closest spot is a pretty long way away.
If you are planning to camp at Lake Red Rock, we would recommend Howell Station or Wallashuck Campgrounds over Whitebreast.

We are retired, and can stay in the middle of the week so fewer than 20% of sites were occupied. All sites were reserved for the upcoming week-end. We also got the 50% discount with Senior Pass. We were the only site occupied in the lower road of the Coal Ridge Loop. It was very quiet and enjoyable. Grass was nicely mowed and restroom and showers were very clean and well maintained.
