This is a very well maintained campground with mature oak and hickory trees for shade. This is an especially nice campground if camping with a group. There are large grassy areas between the campsites with ample shade. The pads are gravel and mostly level, the electric service is dependable and stable. There are water hydrants throughout the grounds.
Check in was quick & easy.
The dump & water station can accommodate four rigs, but the access is to narrow to bypass any vehicle and at busy times the ends can get blocked by campers checking in.
I would not pick site 12 again due to the lack of shade on the pad. It has good shade over most of the site, but our camper was in the sun for the entire day.

Background: 5 people, 2 dogs, 2 adjoining sites, 19’ 5th wheel, and 30’ pull behind. This is our second time staying at Wallashuck and enjoyed this site much better than our site last year.
We went for 4 days and stayed in the Wallashuck loop (sites 58 and 60). These two sites work really well together with a few nice shade trees between. Other sites we hope to stay in in the future at 1, 3, 5, and 59. They back up to a wooded area and are a good distance from the other sites (for people with dogs this is great).
The Wallashuck loop has a bathroom with two private and separate stalls nearby (shower, sink, toilet). They aren’t the cleanest but not the dirtiest bathrooms I’ve used at a campgrounds. I did like that the showers were real shower heads and adjustable temperatures. To get to the bathrooms we had to either walk all the way around on the road or cut between two campsites (which I hate doing). There is a bigger bathroom at the other loops but too far out of the way.
The site had some firewood for sale ($5/bundle) but they mentioned they were having supply issues. There are many local stands on the drive selling firewood, too.
There is also an entrance to the Volksweg Trail which we used to ride our bikes to Pella and back.
While I’m pella we visited the Cellar Peanut Pub which has a great beer selection and is right next to DutchFix. I also recommend going to Jaarsma for Durch pastries.
Overall the campgrounds were quiet and everyone was nice and obeyed the dogs on leashes rule (which is a fear of ours, since we’ve had run ins in the past).
Recommend staying here and we’ll be back.

Very good COE campground. Clean, plenty of space , adequate bathroom and showers. Great bike trail that connects all the camp areas around red rock lake. Near Pella Ia. We were there during the tulip festival. Plenty to see and large crowds

Wallashuck checked all the boxes for us and also had a great staff of hosts to boot. Just before reaching the entrance building, there is a 2 lane dump station (one for those entering, one for those leaving) and potable water fill. Each site has electric and there are water spigots spaced throughout. Shower houses are a bit dated, but are well kept and have good pressure and hot water. None of the camping loops have sites that are right on the lake, but you are certainly right there if fishing or boating appeals to you. A great system of paved trails is right on site here if walking or biking is your thing. Plenty to do in the old Dutch town of Pella, which is less than 5 miles away. Easy access whether coming in from Pella or from the other direction, off of Hwy 14. Interior roads are paved and wide. Any size rig would be easily accommodated here.
We liked all three spots we have listed above. If we had to pick a favorite, it would be 60c, which is at the very end of a quiet cul-de-sac loop. No other campers out of you camper door, so this spot has a great deal of space and complete privacy as well. Site #73 is down a loop which is a sharp left after checking in at the guard house. This site is the last one on the outer loop and again, there would be no campers out your door.

Nice, clean campground with ample space between sites. Posts located at each site will tell you when the next arrival is due to be there but I highly recommend you make reservations. You can stop at the entry booth and ask for open sites or drive through and pick your site. COE went to 100% reservations in 2019 so, no more walk-ins unless the site isn't already reserved. Quiet during the week but can become noisy on the weekends which makes weekend walk-ins almost impossible depending on the weekend. Noise is usually on both south loops, however, cul-de-sac with site 60c tends to be the quietest. 10 mile long, paved bike trail runs through the park but Red Rock dam renovation limits access to the town of Pella which is a beautiful, Dutch touristy town (largest operating windmill in the country). A 3/4 mile, risky stretch of highway bypasses the dam and reconnects with the bike trail to Pella but the dam should be completed sometime around 2021, reopening the bike trail through Howell Station CG. Army Corps cleared out invasive vegetation during winter of 2018/19 so what was once fully wooded in now thinned out but still nice. The road in is paved but turnoff from Hwy G-28 is on a blind hill so be careful if crossing traffic. 4 stars for noise because of the weekend campers - no highway noise whatsoever.
