“Nice overnight spot”

Not recommended for big rigs, especially large class As with toad. We haul a 32' Airstream and had no problem turning around. ONLY enter via NW entrance. There is a very rough spot coming in from the SE entrance (see Google Earth snapshot). Zero Verizon coverage.

Nice place to spend the night...about 12 miles off Highway 15, 90 minutes outside of Vegas. Pretty sunrise if you like the desert.

“Great last stop before Vegas!”

We usually use this as our spot if we want to leave town and it's almost dark or we are just getting back to Vegas and we don't want to go home just yet. Only 1 1/2 hours from Vegas, driving trailer life style, this is a great get away, be remote, but still be close spot. If you do the hike across the street, bring water. It's more... more

“So peaceful”

I didn't camp in this turnout near the rock. If you go south/east past the rock about a mile? there is a dirt road, totally accessible by car and will take you in a north/west direction. Lots of site with fire rings, I saw like 4 or 5 in the 2 miles I took the road.

“Beautiful Desert Views”

Reviewed May 01, 2016

The boondocking campsite we were at had a firepit, picnic table, and a nice tree for shade. The desert landscape is very beautiful we couldn't ask for more. You can't really miss it because there is a large white cross on top of the hill. No cell signal inside and around the campground which is perfectly OK since we were there for a co... more

Sunrise Rock, aka Mojave Cross, can be spotted by the white cross that has been erected at the top of this large pile of boulders. There is also a road sign for this WWII memorial on Cima Rd. The boondocking site is right behind Sunrise Rock and almost directly across the road from Teutonia Peak trailhead. It’s only a little over 12 mi... more
