Numerous loops on a finger extending into the large lake comprise this pretty large SP campground. Most sites are electric only (no on-site water) with some FHU sites spread throughout the area. Roads through the park are paved and sites are asphalt pads, Our site 101 was level but some sites appear to have some fore/aft slope. Plentiful grass and trees separate the well-spaced sites offering a degree of privacy. The CG offers access to some hiking trails that follow along the bank of the lake, and some biking trails. Mostly folks appear to utilize the camp for it access to the lake and deploying various watercraft. The facilities are quite modern and convenient. Bathhouses were very clean with separate shower rooms. Many ADA accessible campsites for those with special needs. Only negative here is the very weak to non-existent Verizon coverage rendering our hotspots useless. Not sure if the coverage was any better in other loops. Walmart and grocery stores located about 6 mile in the town of Ravenna, where you can also find reasonably priced fuel.

This state park was very welcome after our first two unlucky Ohio state park experiences. We had no trouble pulling in at 3 pm on a Sunday after Labor Day with no reservations and snagging a very nice spot (Site 50 backs up to Kirwan Reservoir). There are two loops that are on Jay Lake where there is a beach; it was understandable that there weren’t any water view spots that had not been reserved here. Very quiet park that is well-maintained with lots of amenities. Even the rumbling of the nearby trains was on the quiet side! Nice playground with toy stocked sandpit, volleyball net, cheap laundry ($3 per load, wash and dry), dishwashing sinks, showers, and clean bathrooms. There was even a step stool for kids to be able to reach the sinks. A staffed store (9am-7pm on Sunday, 11am-7pm Monday – Thursday and 9 am – 8:30 pm on Saturday) with basic supplies and, of course, t-shirts and sweatshirts. Some of the sites have a slight grade so be cautious when selecting. Many trees that provide separation between sites. Several short hiking trails. A side note: I only saw one non-Ohio license plate besides ours in the entire park, almost like it is an Ohio secret (not anymore!)

We stayed here while visiting Kent & Cuyahoga National Park. This is a large campground with excellent facilities. Very nice and new restrooms. Several sites have excellent lake views but even if you don’t get one you can still see it and access it from the campground beach. Unfortunately it rained pretty much our whole trip so we didn’t get to check out the trails for hiking and biking. Did do some fun geocaches though. Easy access to Ravenna for groceries and what not. Definitely would stay here again

I am sure if you were very skilled at backing in it would not be that much of an issue but it was for us. The asphalt pad has a big drop off on one side which not only made backing in challenging but then our steps were really high off the ground. None of the other sites around us seemed to be like that, just site 16.

We really liked our campsite at West Branch State Park. I was a little worried when I saw an earlier reviewer who also stayed in site 21 mention how un-level it is. We're in a 27 foot Airstream and needed to put the front end almost all the way down in order to get level, but fortunately we were fine. Anything longer than that might have a problem. Many of the sites in this campground are un-level, so it could be hit or miss.
The loop we stayed in seemed to be the most private. Many sites have lake access.
Over the air HDTV worked great and included our favorite CBS.

The site is the only site on the inner circle of a loop. We had the most beautiful weather for this time of year (low 80's with low humidity) and a beautiful cross breeze from the lake. We could see some of the lake from two different directions, could hear the lake activity and the water.
The park itself is very nice. Many wooded sites. Large playground for the kids. Several years ago the restrooms were upgraded and they have remained well taken care of. In fact, the hosts do a great job keeping each site as well as public areas clean and ready for the next occupant.
Sites are varied for all size rigs, from tents to motorhomes. There is boating on the lake and a small beach and boat launch inside the campground as well as a larger beach and marina across the lake in the state park.
We have been camping at this park for many years. Other than some sites are better than others, we've never had a bad experience.
The greatest experience this weekend was that Brian from Campendium was camped across the road from us. He posted a picture of our American flag on Instagram. He came over the next morning and introduced himself. We had a nice chat and learned a bit about Campendium. A very nice young man and a pleasure to meet. So, I guess what I'm saying is, you never know who you will run into camping anywhere in the US.

Be aware most sites are not full hookups. We thought we reserved a full hookup but it was electric only. Our bad. The route we took came from I-76 through Edinburg. Rock Spring road from Edinburg to the park is very rough, and it's about 5 miles long. The sides of the roads have been patched and not very well. Check in was quick as we only had to pick up our car pass and park map. However, we had some questions later and the staff seemed pretty uninformed. We had to pull into a parking lot on the other side of the check in area to unhook our car and then backtrack to our site. We were in site 1, and just so you know, sites 1-3 are right in front of where you check in. There must be quite the roadblock on busy check in days while people are trying to back into these spaces. Most of the sites are fairly short so few will handle large units. Site 1 is paved, long and pretty level. We were not able to get satellite coverage due to trees. Verizon cell worked fine. There is no WII FI. Quiet at night, and lots of boats and jet skis during the day. The showers are utilitarian. There was a sign indicating if the water was cold to let it run 15 minutes!?! Be ready for the no see um biters when you are outside! The picnic table has seen better days. Seems like a busy weekend place for local boaters. The price for value is low at $28 plus $8 reservation fee for electric only. We wouldn't stay here again.
