A little bit of trash/beer bottles we will haul out. Only 1 boat so far. My pup had a swim under my watchful eye.
Perfectly dispersed and feels nearly completely alone except for some homes on the other side of the river in the distance.

This is a great spot to get away! Beautiful views! We stayed for a week! So relaxing! A lot of stars! We had a 36 four Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel that we pulled in there with no problems. Roads are rough so we did take it slow but got it there!!! We used Google Maps to get us there. Highly recommend this spot!!

Awesome place to boondock. We didn’t see or hear another soul for 3 days! Only $9.17 per night. It is a decent drive to get back in there, road is pretty bumpy with lots of pot holes, and there is a metal bridge that may be too narrow for some rigs. If you have a big rig you’ll want to come in the other way, the way the State Forest tells you. This is dry camping so no hookups but there is a fire pit, grill, picnic table, and it’s right on the water. Pretty of room for several tents, if tent camping.
We heard and saw several birds, experienced the largest flies known to mankind, and even saw a dolphin. Fun to ride the scooter around on the backroads. I will warn you, there are ALOT of flies! Deer flies and horseflies during the day and no-seeums and mosquitoes at night. We couldn’t sit outside much except for an hour or two in the morning. Wear protective clothing and bug spray if you go for walks. It is a quiet and beautiful place. We really enjoyed ourselves, even with all the flies and bugs. Because hey, it’s the wonder of nature!

Stayed for a couple of nights mid-April. Pretty and secluded, though a couple houses are visible a ways off across the river. Great view and a great breeze. Nice kayak access. Lots of bird activity, low light pollution. Nice charcoal grill, fire-pit, and picnic table. It's big enough that you could set up three or four tents if you really wanted. There's a couple trees right by the water where you can get a hammock up (or a tree tent, like we did.)
Getting to the site was a bit bumpy and difficult, with lots of muddy potholes and even some running water draining over one part of the road (though there was rock laid beneath it). Didn’t need 4WD but you'll want high clearance, and I recommend coming in from the south via River Rd (379) to Mill Rd, then crossing the small bridge at Burnt Bridge Rd, and finally a right on Warren Bluff Rd. The state forest website will say to come in off Gully Branch Rd, but it’s a much longer route, and if the road is in a similar condition you want the shorter way. As of April 2019 it doesn't seem like it's been grated in a while, but if/when that changes the access would then be pretty easy.
My biggest negative is that the site appears to be a local drinking spot when it isn't booked, because we had someone come up both days looking for a place to hang out. Once at 11:30 PM our first night, (they turned around and went elsewhere when they saw us set up), and then apparently again the following day while we were gone -- because we came back to find a couple beer bottles at our fire-pit that were not there before. They didn’t take anything, but it felt bizarre to have someone just loitering about our campsite while we were gone, with a most of our gear out.
I’d go back again, but probably not by myself. And not after a heavy rain.

Had I known before hand I would have booked this spot over 47 strictly for the more open trees which would benefit solar better than the one I was in.
The road in is not paved and can have some dips and potholes. Just take it slow and be mindful of the weather, recent rain may mean some large puddles but nothing too crazy. I wouldn't attempt to arrive at night unless you'd been here before.

The forest service advises that while the campsite is dry, the road to it is prone to flooding during high water. Access is easiest from the west side of the Carrabelle bridge from Highway 98, right on CR379 to Mill Road. After the paved road ends, continue to the long bridge & sign on the right for Pickett’s Bay Tract. Cross the bridge on Burnt Bridge Road then turn right on Warren Bluff Road and go 2.6 miles. The first post on the right is for the campsite – follow the driveway to the end. Please review the overall map for campsites at Tate's Hell State Forest.
