The host can give you the annual pass so you can get it immediately.
The kids liked the playground and we took a short hike in the morning before pulling out to burn off some energy. The Badlands should be about a 5 hr drive from here.

Easy to park my 36’ trailer, electric but no sewer or water. Dump and fill station on way in. Very clean at that location also. Playground for kids, clean, quiet park just the right size park nestled up on hill away from traffic. Camp volunteers very helpful and courteous, plus coffee with them on Saturday meet and great. The Union Grove State Park Campground was a perfect place to camp and was very quiet. The campsites are nestled in the forest with plenty of shade. We paid $26.00 with our South Dakota State Park Pass, our spacious campsite included a 30 amp hookup, picnic table, and fire ring. The modern restroom and showers were exceptionally clean, with free hot showers. Water and trash receptacles were located a short distance from our campsite. We received 3-bars of Verizon coverage without a booster. The campground hosts were very friendly and welcoming, they also sell firewood. We will definitely stay here again!

Over priced - $26 site fee, $8 non-resident fee, $8 park usage fee. $42 for an electric only site.
Every site is unlevel and looks like it was last graded 20+ years ago. Great electrical boxes
We have been on the road for 5 months and this is one of the most tired campground we have stayed in.

Charming little campground that was a perfect stopover night. Lush green with hiking trails and lovely campsites. Cleanest, nicest bathrooms we’ve seen with flush toilet and a large shower. We went to sleep with lightning bugs and woke up to quiet thunder and rain. On a Tuesday night we were one of only two RVs. Price was a great value. Only drawbacks: registering by phone was tedious and took nearly 15 minutes (there is an online option but it was not mobile friendly and we gave up), and there was a bit of highway noise, but that’s a minor issue. Definitely recommend if you are staying a night or two. 2 miles from the freeway and very pretty through the farmland.

We were traveling to Montana during our first stay at site 19. It was a pull through (marriage saver), and was just perfect. The hosts, Joel and Rose, were so helpful and kind. In fact, Joel told us about Campendium! We were honestly sad to leave the next day. The bathrooms are clean and up to date, the hot water tank was broken but the showers felt perfect on a hot day. The campground was quiet and full of families. On our return trip from Montana, we decided to stay there again, skipping all the other nearby spots and driving farther to get there. We plan to go back, just to Union Grove it was such a sweet little spot.I know they ask about cell service, I just guessed, we were enjoying camping not looking at the internet :)

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid-May, 2020. Be aware that if you are not a resident of SD you have to pay a one-time $8 "reservation" fee, even if you arrive to an empty park. In addition there is a daily charge -- per vehicle -- to enter the park. To combat this and to reduce what we were paying daily, we opted for longer stays at SD state parks and purchased an annual vehicle pass. Otherwise, to stay one night would be about $40 when the fees are added to the $26 cost of the campsite. By staying for 4 nights we reduced that daily cost to $34.
Having said that, we loved this place and, in fact, all of the SD state parks we stayed in during 2020. At Union Grove, we had a pull thru which was very easy for us to get into and it had a water spigot close enough for us to refill water without having to move. Be aware, there are many sites in this small campground which will not accommodate a larger rig. Do your homework if reserving a sight prior to arrival. We arrived on a Saturday to a full campground, but everyone began leaving early Sunday and by Monday, we were the only campers remaining in the park.
There are terrific hiking trails here which we thoroughly enjoyed during our stay. A couple of mornings we awoke to wild turkeys cruising through the campground.
Very easy to access this park off of I-29. Camp hosts were great, offering up a good deal of local advice. There is a dump station at the entrance and a separate camping area dedicated to equine camping.
Would highly recommend this Park. It is worth the price.

You are parked up in the trees with a view of the valley. Lovely. It’s a little expensive for just electric but it was explained to us that SD does not have income tax so needed for the arks to fend for themselves. It was amazing to wake up to wild turkeys. Would
Love to go back.
