No amenities at this site, make sure you pack in water and provisions. Concrete pads are in good condition and smooth. Campsite was easy to navigate and no big potholes in the gravel road that I can remember. No one else was there so it was nice and quiet. No cell service and very little traffic on the road that is visible from the site.

Nevada Gas’s prices are only 7 miles north of Death Valley Junction. I definitely recommend filling up before heading into the park. Prices at Furnace Creek are a rip-off ($8.94 regular & $9.22 diesel on 3/28/22) while Stovepipe Wells (regular only) is much better.

Like the area a lot. No cell service what so ever. Verizon 3G maybe. I only use prepaid verizon which is restricted to 4G. So no Verizon service for me. T mobile no service. Place is picking up a bit of trash. SO pick up around site before you leave. Pick up garbage even it is not yours.

This must have been a RV park a while back. There is a paved loop road, serving concrete pads with fire rings. Plenty of space between sites. It's almost luxurious for BLM "boondocking". I went on a 3 miles dirt road with my cargo e-bike, going up the Southern range. That was fun. There is ZERO cell reception, even with a booster. That... more

The Pads look like an old RV park with a lot of space between pads. Very quiet & very close to Death Valley National Park. Snowed on us 2/22/22!

Stayed last night on one of the level concrete pads. Only 10 or so of us there and very spread out. Spectacular sunset and quiet night! Compared to Sunset campground today and I would choose to stay at the Pads.

Easy to find, super close to the national park. Nice cement pads for flat parking. INSANE VIEW OF THE STARS! Even saw shooting stars and planets. We could hear people driving on the main roads but not many people passed through after dark. Would stay here again if in the area.

This campsite, which appears to be a half-built but abandoned RV park (I’d love to know the story here!), is free to stay at.
Pros:
- Close proximity to Furnace Creek attractions in Death Valley, like Badwater Basin, Artists Palette, and Dante’s Point- all for free!
- The landscape here is SO gorgeous. This was our plan C option after the two Furnace Creek campgrounds were totally full. The views of the colorful mountains at The Pads blow DV’s campgrounds out of the water- it’s my favorite when your Plan C is actually the best option!
- Each campsite has a really decent amount of space, providing a feeling of privacy even in the desert landscape.
- While there’s little shade to beat the infamous Death Valley heat, that also means awesome solar!
Cons:
- My husband and I had planned to work here remotely, but sadly got absolutely no cell reception (so we had to return on a weekend). Womp womp.
- When pulling in your campsite, get out of your vehicle and examine your path to your parking spot. There’s a ton of nails and little metal debris on the ground, just waiting to poke holes in your tires in the middle of the remote desert.
Verdict: would absolutely love to come back here for days full of exploring Death Valley and nights gazing at the epic night’s sky out here!
