We arrived and we’re promptly greeted by the owner of the campground. Very kind and made sure we had all we needed for our stay. The views are so nice and the pond is a nice touch. Bath house was always very clean. We would most definitely return. Site 10. Great cell service.

Pro: Quiet little Park
Cons: Half the park does not have sewer or internet and (personal opinion) depending on what size your rig is or if your a local, you get the better sites. Spent 3 months here for work. We requested a sewer site as soon as we got here. We never were able to move to another site despite having vacant sites on the sewer side. Not much for kids to do, play ground is to small for older kids. Dog park is to small and was Handel ever mowed. Swimming pool was closed and by the looks of it hasn’t been opened for a while. Fishing pond was used by a resident of the park as his personal playground for his remote control power boats. No quad riding, unless you are the owners grand kids and then you can ride all over the park. Owner lets grandson drive POV around park learning how to drive.

The Owners were very nice and accommodating.
Most of the park around the lake was well manicured, but the campsites on the hill and dog park were overgrown with weeds. Also the pool was closed and full of stagnant green water.
Overall it was a beautiful park, and a nice stay, but the owners really could use some help on upkeep here.

A very well-kept site with touches of home. There's a catch and release fishing pond, and they have recycling on site which we appreciated. Some sites have covered picnic tables, which might be nice for some shade and shelter (it was hot where we were there). As others have said, it's about 30 minutes to Bardstown and centrally located on the Bourbon trail.

Gary and Mable were excellent hosts. We were led to our site by horseback riders. Gary delivered our firewood with kindling. Our site had plenty of space, covered picnic table, and a stone fire pit. Shower house was very clean. Would absolutely stay here again!

The new owners (Gary and Mabel) took over in March of 2020. They are working to make things better and better. We will plan on coming back next year and I'm sure things will be even better.
We stayed in site A30 which is a back in EWS with 50A connection. I think we paid a little more because of 50A. They are little close together here but it was fine. We had a fire pit and a picnic table where we could site and look over to the lake. The sites along the lake seem a lot closer and that section is all gravel. With two dogs, we wanted a little grass next to our site. If you don't need sewer, the sites down from us seemed really nice. They had a lot of space to walk our dogs around the lake. Some folks were fishing there. We heard a little noise from the road but it didn't bother our sleep (we are very sensitive to noise at night).
A couple of reasons for 4 vs 5 stars: The grass next to our site is patchy and needs to be improved. I'm sure they'll work on this. You have to go in and out of the back entrance if you have a big rig or a long overhang as you can scrape on the main entrance corner. This isn't a problem unless you are coming and going after hours as the back gate gets locked!

We chose this park for its location to nearby historic Bardstown KY (My Old Kentucky Home and civil war museums) and Frankfort, Kentucky's capitol, and for its price (31/night weekdays, 35/Fri and Sat plus tax). New owners 6 months ago and they are delightfully putting their heart and soul into this campground that is popular with the locals and families (on weekends). Beautiful green grass, fishing pond (catch and release, no license required), playground, and right across the street from Taylorsville Lake State Park (did not get a chance to visit...I was working most of the week). Firewood delivered to your site. Some sites FHU (along the pond and in the back), others are W/E and dump onsite. Level gravel sites with fire ring/table (ours had a cover), some sites with sunset views. Bathhouse/showers older but clean and functional. Very quiet during the week in September, busy on weekends but all nice, quiet folks. It's also close (30 minutes) to Louisville but we didn't venture into town due to unrest at the time. We would stay here again (we are full-timers).

Geese and deer walking around makes it a perfect, relaxing camping experience. Sites are level, gravel, with some paved roads. Road maintenance and mowing was immaculate. We have a 44 foot fifth wheel and it had no problems fitting into the site right down by the lake. We had full hook-ups so we didn’t use the restrooms or laundry. This campground is a hidden gem and we will be back!
