Stopped here one night on our way from Valdez to McCarthy. Sites are generally on smaller side and not very level. Gravel sites w/ fire pits, picnic table, pit toilet is very clean. Water from a well which we didn't use. Lake access w/ a small beach and a spot to fish or launch kayak. Some road noise during the day, quiet at night... more

This place is typical of Alaska state parks, little to no effort in making them a nice option for people to stay in. The foliage in camp sites is way over grown trash is overflowing out of can

We were the only campers here. Some sites near lake some near creek that flows into river nearby. Pretty good overall. Sites clean, not too level. No services

Price is now $25.00. Nice campground with no utilities. Did not fish but they were there. Plenty of Moose scat. Great spots on the lake and stream.
Noise rated only because of large group near us. Some hwy noise.

1. Somewhat remote yet visited by many locals :). 2. The lake (pond) is stocked with rainbows. Best fishing is at the head of the lake by the highway - during the evening. 3. Can be BUGGY if no breeze. 4. You will also get various 4-legged visitors; usually a moose but have seen a few bears wander through the campground. 5. Tonsina... more

5. Tonsina Lodge is right down the road. Pretty decent Russian Food.
6. Serves as a starting point for rafting the Tonsina River or access to various ATV trails.
7. Closest store is at the top of the hill 5 miles away. There is another one in Kenny Lake (15 miles with gas station).
8. Cell coverage is hit/miss. Better once you get on top of the hill but provided by a local provider.
