Beautiful and peaceful, no fees up to April 1st.
Alone we were feeling like at the end of the world; loved the experience. The only noise we got was a group of deers passing through, some rubbing against our trailer!
Please note at this time of the year there is no water available.
Very good 4G with T-Mobile.

It’s right on the river. There aren’t really specific camp sites. We camped here one night on the way through. We were the only ones. Most people seem to just use the boat launch and don’t stay. Clean vault toilets. Trucks are driving by in the morning.

Place is quiet and had good VZ service for us to work. The issue with rig size is that the “campground” is this little parking lot with picnic tables and fire rings around the edges. We are about 40’ truck and trailer and could turn around in it with no issue. Anything bigger and you might have a time getting turned around if others are there.
With that said there are a lot of pull offs by the river on the way there and past this site we saw many large rigs in.

Good overnight site if you can manage the road getting there. It is a bit of a nail biter, narrow, steep with sharp drop offs and no guard rails. We got up and down it no problem in a 27’ Class C towing a Jeep. Another reviewer said he went up in a Class A but I wouldn’t try it. Other than the camp host we were the only ones there. Qui... more

We got up and down it no problem in a 27’ Class C towing a Jeep. Another reviewer said he went up in a Class A but I wouldn’t try it. Other than the camp host we were the only ones there. Quiet, dark. Each site had a table and fire ring. The camping area was dirt. The coyotes woke me up during the night yipping and they sounded fairly close but we loved it. There is apparently great fishing in the Snake River and they had the nicest fish cleaning table I’ve ever seen. Normal rate is $5 unless you have a senior pass.

This campground is open but was closed this spring during the height of the shutdowns. If there is a virus resurgence do not assume Spring Rec Area is open, check first. The second thing is the goats heads. If you have pets you’ll need to be extremely careful here because the goats heads are a problem. That said we had a great stay here. We love the price (with pass), the convenience to I 84 and the strong Verizon signal for catching up on email.

I am glad I drove in with the car first, because by the time I came through with my 40' + tow it was pretty dark out and like another person mentioned it is an "interesting" drive. There are areas you don't want to meet oncoming traffic with a footprint like I have, so if you see someone coming and you have a wider spot to pull and wait... do it and be patient.
So... my advice is mostly for folks with larger RVs like I have. Skip the first few sites you see before you get to the actual campground (as tempting as they are), I struggled to get the rig level and ended up parking at the turn around just prior to the established campground because it was too dark by 6 pm to see the terrain anymore. In the morning I drove past the established campground and 2 miles later you arrive at a large open space with several options. The downside is cellular access drops dramatically and you don't see the sun until 9 am vs 6 am. The upside is finding more space to let the dog run free, more places to simply explore/hike, you are away from the train that does come through and blow its whistle 24 hrs a day, and it is much easier to level a 40' rv.
Cellular analysis (ping, download, upload):
A: at the campground
- tmobile 32 - 25 - 14
- verizon w/o mimo 3 bars and LTE
- verizon w mimo (forgot to test)
B: 2 miles past the campground. I could stream on tmobile but it buffers a bit much. For calls I drove back to the campground to make.
- tmobile (54 - 11 - <1)
- verizon w/o mimo (53 - <1 - <1)
- verizon w mimo (49 - <1 - <1)
Stayed here in a 39 foot-long Class A + a Toad (RV). I would stay here again.

I wouldn't go driving the road at night as there are no guardrails but it's well paved and well maintained. I had the place to myself likely because it was rainy. There is the distant train and coyotes in the hills but I found them pleasant. Overall great place to stop off after a day of driving.

These were close together so maybe not the best if you want solitude during the busy season, but great little spot for a spot to sleep on my road trip. Very easily accessible by car. Mostly paved the entire way, the end was unpaved but well maintained.
Only problem was that it was noisier than all get out. A train went by every couple of hours and the wildlife (deer and coyotes) were causing a ruckus all night.

I was really surprised that the only other people here were the campground hosts, other than day users utilizing the boat launch and fishing access at this spot. This is a really cute little camping area! I only stayed one night, but I would certainly stay here again if my experience was the same as I had this time.
There seems to be 2 main parking areas for the campground, and a few areas of walk-ins. It does seem primarily setup for the tent walk-in campers, but the hosts were in an RV, and the parking areas are really quite large for it. I was able to take my pick, choosing an awesome spot to hang my hammock for the night.
There a multiple vault toilets here, which were all clean, and several dumpsters for trash service. For only $5/night... Well, I've stayed in much more primitive campground for 3-4 times that cost, many of which I didn't even enjoy as much as this.
The road in is a bit narrow and winding, but paved and fairly easy. The views of the Snake River are pretty magnificent. And even during the day, it was remarkably quiet.
All of this on Labor Day Weekend! I can only assume that I had very good luck on this one.
Of note is that Verizon LTE was good and strong. Worked well for streaming when I tested that, although I didn't really use it for much only staying one night.
It's a beautiful little campground, and I would absolutely stay here again!
