This state park offers a beautiful view of the inlet. That said, there isn't a lot of space between the campsites. We arrived late in the afternoon, so we've not yet explored the park. According to one camper, there has been no hot water in one of the bathhouses for a week. Since we don't use them, I can't confirm that.

Visited in January 2021 with cooler temperatures likely the reason for having little problems with insects described by others. On the warmest day (low 70's), we did experience gnats that could penetrate our fine mesh screens, but they did not bite. We used our fan and closed the windows. Fishing is the main activity here, and we did not go fishing due to the large crowds on the piers during the Covid pandemic. There are bike trails inside the State Park on the Brevard County side and A1A on the Indian River County side. We rode our bikes on the A1A side for 3 days, riding 15-20 miles per day to visit beaches along the road. The trail is flat, and the folks we encountered were friendly and considerate. The beaches themselves are similar to most of Florida's Atlantic coast and not the white sandy beaches of the Gulf. Birds and views of dolphins from the park, the inlet, lagoon, and the beaches are abundant.
We ate at Beach Bites Deli for lunch at Wabasso Beach one day on one of our bike rides. Their sandwiches were delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They had outstanding collard greens that day! Our first night, we drove down A1A to Hwy 1 connector and over to the town of Sebastian about 10 miles from the campground for carryout dinner from Mo-Bay grill - it was outstanding, and there was enough room in their carryout parking lot for our 24-foot RV.
There are off-road bike trails within the park on the Brevard county side of the park. I call these bike or hike trails, but I think biking them is likely best. These include the old A1A road, which is a lot of sand and palmetto roots now, but the trail runs along the ocean side with occasional beach access. The other bike trails are Long Point Loop Trail and Campbell's Cove loop trail. We also road down A1A to Brevard County's Long Point Park. We did not find this information on the park website. A very nice park ranger gave us a brochure with a map of the trails. The only drawback to these trails is the ride from the campground; one must bike over the Sebastian Inlet Bridge. During our stay, the bridge was heavily traveled during the day with large dump trucks loaded with sand to complete a dune restoration project along A1A. There is no bike lane on the bridge. We tried walking the bikes over, but it actually seemed more dangerous than riding them. With all of that said, many of the dump truck drivers were courteous and left room for us by driving mid bridge when there was no opposing traffic.
Now about the campground site itself. I would not want to stay in site 17 or 16 as they are very small, and the fire ring of your neighbor is right under your window. For that matter, I would try to avoid sites in the middle of the campground altogether. The sites were unlevel and high in the rear and generally small and close with fire rings much to close. We would stay again, possibly in the Lagoon view sites along the outside road. The sites appeared a little more spacious and leveled on this part of the loop. The outside road ends in the western end of the campground and there are locations there for both motorized and non-motorized boat launching. There is a child's playground there as well. And this section was a nice place to walk for good sunset views over the lagoon.
The bathrooms and showers were old but fairly clean.

The bathrooms although clean are in need of an update/refurbish. Laundry facilities are clean & in good working order. The one thing that was a killer of our stay was the BUGS! Oh my! The mosquitos & no see ums are the only drawback & it’s a huge one! There was nothing we could do to protect ourselves from them. We drowned ourselves in bug spray & it did virtually nothing for the no see ums (midges) we are all 6 covered in itchy swollen welts. I don’t know if they have a season for these bugs but it really took away from our enjoyment. If someone else has been here & has a magic potion to deal with these let me know pls!! Otherwise amazing place!!

The sites are a bit close. Had great weather and it was very interesting watching the tide change.
One very big negative is the no see um. The screens in our coach would not stop them and we had quite a few bites. The weather in late December was perfect for sleeping with the windows open but need tighter screen mesh.

Stopped here for a couple of nights on our 5 week journey through the southeast US. We chose this campground because it was the only one we could get reservations at on tge eadt coast of FL within a two-week window. This is a great canpground if you like to fish, it's right on an inlet off the ocean. There is a public access road to a public access point parking lot that runs right along the campground. It appears this road is accessible all day and night to anyone. Another camper told us to lock our bikes up as there were several stolen last year.
. All the sites fronting the inlet are. exposed to this road, so beware. Other than that, our site had a great.
view of the inlet, was clean, and fairly level. A very strong storm blew in during our last night there and really rocked our 25 ft Class C, It was scary! Bathrooms were clean, there were also laundry facilities.

We've been here twice now, and aside from being on the beach and inlet - we find this park a bit overrated. Reservations are difficult to get, but the campground just really isn't all that great.
The waterfront sites are closely crammed together and wide open to the park's main road. And that road will be trafficked all day and night long as the park is open 24/7 to public fishing. Yes, the view is nice.
The back sites do offer a bit more vegetation and separation, but are a bit lacking in shade.
But egads, the bugs will eat you alive! You just can't be outside much at all.
Unless you fish, there's just not much to do here. To access the rest of the park you have to cross a narrow bridge over the inlet that isn't pedestrian friendly to get to the protected beach, restaurant, biking trail and other stuff.

We had no expectations for this stay, we were just starting full time living in our travel trailer and coming from Vero Beach, it just made sense to stop here to test it out before leaving Florida.
Our stay was at the middle of June when the days are already really hot and the bugs are all out. As usual I was attacked by noseeums bugs, so if you know you are a target just be prepared.
At the time we called to make the reservation the agent mentioned we needed a 75 foot hose, I was surprised and did not had one, for our luck she was wrong so our hose worked just fine.
Bathrooms, laundry areas (just outside bathroom), dumpster were fine! On our way out we stopped at the dumpster which was just across the trash can and the smell were strong, not sure if they were late to pick up the trash or if the smell is like this all the time.

Let me start by saying that while there are some drawbacks to this park, it was so unbelievably relaxing, I have to give it 5 stars!
We had a waterfront site. These sites are small and close together, but a few have nice shade trees and the water view really made everything else disappear. In May, the no-see-ums were still pretty relentless later in the day. While I know the point of camping is to be outside, when the bugs got bad, we just sat in the air conditioned camper and stared out the window at the water view. From the site, we saw birds, dolphins and manatees.
The campground is on one side of a bridge, along with the fishing museum and Atlantic Beach access. The calmer swimming lagoon, bait shop, restaurant and pier are across the bridge. The bridge has a very slim bike lane and curb/sidewalk and the speed limit is 50. So it is VERY sketchy to cross by foot or bike. We walked it but it was terrifying. Definitely drive if you can.
We also noticed the crowd at this park is a late one- we had the beaches to ourselves until about noon and then it got packed.
The abundance of wildlife and water views/access make this park great.

It’s a nice park with a good view. The hook ups are a little distant specially on 27. 58 was a great spot a new lot with a nice brand new grill and new hook up. Take a lot of 40% DEET. I’m pretty sure this is the birthplace of all no-seemems (Ceratopogonidae or biting midges)
