Overview of Sandford Lake
Due to high demand for these campsites during the summer recreation season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), a permit is required from the Bath DEC office during regular business hours. Permits are not available on-site.
Outside of that timeframe, camping for more than three nights or with 10 or more people also requires a permit from a Forest Ranger. Call 518-897-1300 to get the name and contact information for the local ranger.
Accessibility is not guaranteed, always scout ahead before driving down dirt roads.

“Beautiful And Peaceful Little Campground”

Great place to paddle. Small and peaceful.
It requires a permit. There are signs everywhere. Looks like you have to go in person or call, no online reservation, and only M-F 8:30 to 4:30.
I got there at 4:40 pm so I wasn’t able to get a permit. I’m not sure if it cost anything now.

We were here on a weeknight just before peak season started (Memorial Day).
We were the only ones here camping.
What a lovely little park.
Campsites have picnic tables and fire rings. Fire rings have grills.
Campsites are set up “opposite” for RV’s , but it’s quite workable

We stayed on a cold rainy Friday night beginning of April, needless to say we were the only ones staying to camp. Some cars drove in to look at the lake or fish for a little while. My husband did fish, didn't catch anything but enjoyed the area. Plan to come back when warmer to fish another day. This time we did not need a permit but like others mentioned you do need to call for a FREE permit from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Found out you can call as early as Mother's Day to reserve a site.
The firepit was falling over so we used a crow bar to make it normal. Another site had a bucket with a bunch of cans in it. Most likely some locals party here and don't clean up after themselves. Lots of firewood to be collected, used our handy battery powered chain saw and had a very nice evening fire.
Each site were a good size and spaced decently apart. They also had a handicapped site available in front of the day use parking area. That would be the largest and flattest site of the 6 sites available.

We stayed here from Tuesday AM to Friday AM in a 25' TT. We we're able to turn around and back into site 6 easily. Had to level the rig, but nothing out of control. We could have fit in 5 out of 6 sites, with one site having a low hanging branch that we wouldn't want to risk. The road in is narrow, but we did not have any issues with traffic being mid week. The park was quiet and the lake views were peaceful and serene. At most, there were two other campers spending the night. Great hikes nearby! We visited Hammondsport (20mins) and Watkins Glen (30 mins). Corning is also close by (est. 30 mins). All in all, we had a great stay and would visit again!

Great Verizon signal, lake is right there and is good for fishing. If you swim, I would recommend bringing a float as the water is a little mucky. Easy access - paved most of the way and the dirt road portion is smooth. Overall, great site to stay at for a few days.

This is a beautiful place to stay. Not the best fit for large campers. I have a 22ft camper trailer and it fits alright. Anything larger than that May have issues parking. Sites 1, 5, and 6 are the biggest for those of you with small campers. Again you can give it a as whirl with a larger one but gods speed :)

Party spot for the Teens and early 20's on the weekend nights. I spent first 2 days picking up trash left on site, after the weekend.
Nice beach, and swim areas in Seneca, and Keuka Lakes, very clean and refreshing water, only the surface area is heated, starts to cool very rapidly over 5 feet deep, 15-20 miles away.
Roads are in great shape, accommodates up to 30 ft RVs easily.
