New renovated parking lot. Suitable also for large RVs. Daily cleaned (and warm!) restrooms. Friendly Security Service patrols parking lot and bridge 24h.
We arrived at 7pm and the restrooms were already closed, but the Security Service offered to open them for us if needed - anytime.

Stayed here one night and arrived after dark. We were surprised to find large concrete barriers blocking all the RV parking.
The turn after exiting 285 was very tight for our 30ft trailer due to the position of the barriers, please be cautious. We were able to squeeze ourselves in a small pull off right before the bathrooms under the first tree. Our rig just barely fit.
The next morning the area was filled at 5am with people setting up to sell things on the other side of the barriers. We did have to ask several vehicles to move for us to be able to leave as they were parking even in the traffic lane. Everyone was friendly but it was a bit much for me before I had my coffee.
I don't know if the concrete barriers are a permanent thing or not. There was no sign of construction at the exit so I could not determine why they blocked off the large vehicle parking.
We had 3 bars of Verizon roaming on T-mobile's network. We could not tether our laptop due to this being roaming.

The only thing I didn't like was being reliant on the guard to unlock the bathroom as needed. We used it in the evening but didn't even use it in the morning, opting to simply continue on our journey and stop in Santa Fe. If you have little ones this could end up being inconvenient. If you're self-contained in an RV or van this is a five star place to pull over for the night.

It’s close to Taos, just west of it, and RIGHT on the Rio Grande, which has an awe inspiring view of an amazing canyon. There are trails for hiking and biking. It was quiet at night. Awesome free place. My TMobile service had 3 bars here, and hotspot data worked great. The restrooms were locked up at night.

We arrived late evening and there was only one other van parked on the unpaved part of the rest area. We parked our TT on the paved part close to the restrooms. The are was quiet during night but early morning (7am) we heard lot of noise so we got out of bed to find out that we were in the middle of the souvenir & art market. :) There were like 20 different merchants selling their stuff around our camper. We had breakfast at one of the shelters and left the place.

Nice free overnight at a very scenic location. I love free! We had a nice stay and there was plenty of room. Only one night is acceptable but that’s all we needed since just passing through.
