Ridge Road Campground

I opted to stay here due to the positive reviews in the app as well as on the recommendations of some fellow Full Time RVers.

I had the option to stay at any number of the sites in this portion. Water is provided for the $10 fee. They only charge $8 per night should you move toward the beach area.

Don't let the beach area scare you off. While there is loose sand around, there are significant portions of hard packed gravel upon which to set up camp...even all the way to the beach.

I stayed about midway down the gravel road after the pavement. The staff was very accommodating and helpful to me throughout the process.

Plenty of trash containers, even porta johns around the dispersed sites.

I would stay here again, for sure.

Please note, however, that if you are here in high season, the period of November through the spring, the Electric Sewer campsites are likely to be full. You will most certainly want to either obtain reservations or call ahead. I do believe reservations (online) are the only way to secure any of the full hookup sites provided in the park.

A must stop. The lake was stunning with the mountain views to match.

We stayed in a full hookup site and a $10 site down towards the beach. We Enjoyed about a week there.

Would of easily given this stop 5 stars but was confused on how disappointing the bathrooms were, like bad. Broken mirrors and dated. Ain't much going on down there, at least not this time of year, hopefully they started to update-fix once we left.

The staff and rangers were great and the park itself was extremely clean and safe although it seemed to have a few camping there that were down on their luck, nothing wrong that at all, let's just say there's zero rig age limits or appearance guide lines is all.

Either way it's a definite must stop for the night or a week like we did...

Based on one of the previous reviews, by Hannah, I came on down to the beach instead of stopping at the sites along Ridge Road. If you are set up for Boondocking and have a smaller rig, the beach is worth a try. I agree with her though, you must be very discerning about where to drive and where to camp. Some of the sand is rock laid in and packed down so it’s easier to drive on. But very close by is softer sand. I have a truck with a light camper. I think a van or any smaller rig would do fine down here. There were some bigger rigs that were not quite as low as the beach/ shoreline but still on the lower primitive camping area.
I camped hear the night of November 29. I pretty much had the place to myself. I heard sandhill cranes in the morning. It was so peaceful.
The lake was beautiful and once the wind died down it was perfect.

We absolutely loved it here! We hadnt even intended on stopping here but the weather had other plans for us. We arrived later in the day and planned to just spend a night but saw how beautiful it was and decided to stay a week. The first night we were in site 89, ($14/night) but noticed other people with larger rigs down on the beach so we took our truck and scouted a good solid spot and decided to move the next morning and spend the rest of our stay water front. Primitive beach camping is $8 a night. Just be sure to scout ahead. We saw people getting stuck. Beach camping in a larger rig is possible but there is a lot of soft sand so be sure to carefully scout a spot and plan accordingly. Beautiful park with great amenities. We would definitely stay here again!

When we first arrived, we were surprised by the size of this park. The signage could be improved to help direct first timers, but once here you'll soon learn the layout of the park. We stayed on Lower Ridge Road, site 2. It was a nice sandy spot, with ample room to park our 34' travel trailer. All sites have a picnic table, shelter, and firepit. Our site also had electric and water. The public restroom was conveniently located nearby. Full signal for Verizon. We'll be back!

I arrived at dusk and had a hell of a time discerning where I could camp after entering the gates after business hours. I gave up and camped road side until I could see again.

Check the map online for the park and you'll be better off. Lots of adventurous folks on the beaches in class a and non 4wd.

Camp staff had no issue with us using a small pullout on the gravel road down ridge road.

Great Verizon speeds even during network management for prepaid unlimited. 10/10 up down. 50/20 when not as busy.

We actually drove down to the beach, and didn’t stay at the actual campground. The beach camping is at your own risk and first come basis. You just have to pay the $8/day entry fee. We found a great spot near the water and the sand was firm. We made our own fire pit and couldn’t see anyone from where we were. There were other campers along the beach but very spread out. Nice hiking trails. You can rent jet skis, boats, kayaks and paddle boards for the lake. Unbelievable full sky sunsets! There is also Riverbend Hot Springs in town. We love this spot-some of the best boondocking we have done.

We were looking for a one night layover and thought we'd try out this park. It's a gorgeous state park. All the facilities are top notch - the sites have big parking areas, the bathrooms looked large (but were closed for the season during our visit), and the "big playground" was a hit for the little people.

While there were sites with water and electric ($14), we chose one that was dry camping only ($10) for ease of access to the main road. There's a self-pay station almost as soon as you enter the park. If you aren't looking for it (we weren't) and you miss it (we did)... it was hard to figure out how to pay. Once we got that squared away, everything fell into place.

The campground is overlooking and has easy access to the reservoir. We probably could have walked to the water from our site, but it would have been a steep, long-ish hike.

It was busy on a Sunday in early March. We first looked at camping in Lions Beach (also part of the same state park) but it was full. We also saw people parked overnight out on the beach and sandbar. While that looked like fun, we weren't willing to put in the necessary work to figure out how to get down to it.

The roads were paved and the parking areas level. We had a covered picnic table and space to play but that's about it.
