Pog Lake Campground

When we arrived the parks in the area were on a boil water notice due to a recent power outage. Also the hot water heater in the loop bathhouse was broken and replacement on order. This caused some issues with our stay as we hadn’t filled our water tank full before the trip. We limped along on our limited water supply until the issues were fixed. Sites are heavily treed so be careful reserving and setting up. Mosquitoes were at their peak this June. Nice hikes and trails in the area but also upper 80s heat. Pog Lake is really out in the country. Come well stocked on fuel, food and other necessities. Some highway noise. T-Mobile via Bell and thus capped on data usage.

So much to do, so little time, biking, hiking, paddling, swimming. Saw a moose and a bear, loons, and so many new birds.

One dumping station on Hwy 60 for multiple campgrounds. Plan your dumping and fill your water at your campground.
Sites can be uneven and plugs can be far so bring long cords and levelling blocks. Long water hoses made it so we could fill fresh water from tap near our site. But once we were set, big, beautiful site. They have lots of water access trails so you don’t necessarily go to the beach to launch.
We also loved that the campground is designed in cul de sacs so not a lot of traffic going by your site, you got a small campsite feeling.

This was a great camping experience in Algonquin. Unfortunately there was a fire ban while we were there, but the beautiful lake gave us plenty to enjoy here. Site 138 was a little tough to get level on and the electrical post was pretty far back, but these were minor considering the beauty here. There was a small path that went down to a great spot to fish from or launch a kayak from. The facilities were very clean and there was even laundry here.

This is a beautiful provincial park, although we had the unfortunate luck of arriving during a torrential rainstorm with lighting, which could very likely play into our 4 star rating. The campsites are pretty tight and hard to get into, and the electrical is tucked away so that we couldn’t find it, partially because of the rain and the massive puddles under our camper. Looking on the bright side, the site was so level that we didn’t need to do anything to level, and it was long enough to keep the car attached. I think, under different circumstances, it would have been great. The dump station is shared with other campsites, so get there early (by 9)! There was quite a line by the time we left.
