Stayed here two nights so we could spend a day at the Joseph Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. Nice campground with some hiking and biking trails and boats to rent.

Loved staying at this state park. Our back-in site had water and electric and was right across from new showers. Lots of birds and welcome shade trees. Only 20 minutes from Pawhuska and the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. I didn't know there was so much to do in Osage County. Wish we had stayed longer.

Stayed here during visit to Pawhuska. Power pedestal worked fine. Water spicket is on the passenger side at this particular site, a longer water hose would be required. Site was across from restroom/shower house. Water was only on at the restroom/shower house, facility was well taken care of showers were adequate and water was comfortable. The campground was created by the Civilian Conservation Corp during the mid 1930s. The stone structure and surrounding stone works were built then and is a testament to the individuals of that time. As others have stated, busy months could be very crowded and might not be as pleasant. There is also additional camping located up the hill from this area. I do not recall whether they are "dry camping'" or not. Hope this helps anyone considering this state park.

Quiet and secluded state park. Very nice and level RV pads. Dump station in the campground. Park staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. There are several trails of varying length, most of which were easy to follow.

Cons: rolling hills (few level sites left when we arrived), IMPOSSIBLE online check in process required which entailed driving 5 miles up the road to get a signal and endless frustration on the smart phone. There was a dead animal smell from the dumpsters, the bath house was a dirty fright and too many kids running around for me. One bar of Verizon in c/g. But it was scenic and the old CCC stuff in the park is worth seeing.

We were there for the Flower Moon trail race, camping with several of our friends at surrounding campsites. Campsites were close enough to encourage camaraderie but not so close to feel pressed-in on.
The only reason to not receive full stars is the pedestal problem at that specific campsite. The electric pedestal was on the wrong side of the pad and too far away. But the park rangers were helpful and even offered the use of a 30 amp extension cable. Also, the previous campers had been messy and I spent a good amount of time picking up small pieces of trash from around the campsite.

A beautiful and well maintained state park! RV pads were all concrete and ours was very level. We chose our campsite and paid online, so we just found our spot and set up. Quite a bit of space in between camping sites, so the feeling of privacy was really nice. Bathrooms were older but cleaned and stocked each day with soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Only drawback was the many wasps who chose to live in the bathrooms and we forgot our wasp spray at home. Quiet, beautiful park and we’ll definitely stay here again.

We arrived on February 22 and was the only RV in the park. No park employees working until 08:30-4:30. Nice and quiet. You need to watch the overgrown trees if you have a big rig.
