“Lovely, peaceful campground”

The tree canopy in the campground is magnificent. Beautiful, spacious sites. Bath house clean and in good condition.

The park is beautifully wooded with some wonderful hiking trails. The three camping loops are also wooded but with limited underbrush, so your neighbors will be in full view. However the campsites are large and spread out so I didn't consider this an issue at all. The individual campsites have a nice crushed rock pad with a fire ring and picnic table. There is still plenty of room for a large tent. They've done a very nice job with the tent pad. The parking area is not quite so nice. It is large gravel stones and not very level. It seems as if the construction crew had no idea that RVs need to be level. Bring plenty of leveling blocks. If you have difficulty leveling from front-to-back, I would recommend getting a site at the front portion of the electric loop. Those appear to be the most level. On some of the back sites I don't believe it would be possible for any RV to get level.

The park is awesome for short hikes and wildlife. The campground was Ok. We stayed in a non electric site. The site was very narrow, I could not extend the awning. The bathhouse has great showers, but none of the toilet stalls had working locks.

A few electric only sites, but most have no hookups. Sites vary in quality, and some are arranged with pad and table on wrong side. After it stopped raining, we had a good hike, then found out that the remnants of Hurricane Zeta were going to create high winds on the day we were to leave. To be safe, we booked another night, but had to get a different site. The next day when the winds were blowing, trees were falling in the campground. So again, to be safe, we left our original campsite early and drove our small RV to the top of Morrow Mountain. There we enjoyed the beautiful view until the winds calmed and we could move to our new site for the night.
I liked this campground, but wish more sites had hookups and good layouts. Ranger presence was the best I'd ever seen at one of the state parks.

Morrow Mountain State park offers some great hiking and kayaking along the Uwharrie River. Although the campground sites are not as private as other NC parks, they still offer enough privacy. It was very quiet.
We will definitely return. Cell service was spotty at our site going from 1 to 2 bars.

I’d probably give this place four stars if I was at another site. Thought I had booked 104 which was level but mistakenly booked 102 which is steep. Could not get a hold of anyone to request a change due to Covid closures and by the time I came across the host it was too late to move.
State park is very pretty. Lots to do - hike, bike, paddle. Cell service decent.
Other than my site not being level the sites are nice. What’s with North Carolina only have a few electric sites though? If it wasn’t so hot I may have opted for a non electric site because no one was at other loops.

Sites are on the smallish side. We dropped and hooked up toad at park office lot. There is no front gate as NC parks don't charge an entrance fee. The bath house could use some TLC but the water was hot and had great pressure (I heard the men's not as much). There are plenty of hiking trails. Odd thing was on our last night there was a low flying twin turboprop aircraft that sounded pretty low. The campground is near an airport, but this seemed a bit odd (I'm a pilot). 🤷♀️

I like that it has lots of trees and the sites are spaced apart adequately though not a lot of privacy. I got a decent cell signal both on Verizon and AT&T. My first site, #93, turned out to be way too unlevel. I think a lot of the sites are way off from level. The very helpful & friendly camp host helped me select a better one. The bathrooms are dated but clean. The showers have ample hot water. The times I've gone it's been real quiet and peaceful.
