“Nature at its finest!”

Overall Rating

We selected Morrow Mountain State Park, primarily, because the reservation site offered 50 amp electric. That was the top reason we reserved online. However, we didn't need 50 amp, but, we felt that for a campground to invest in 50 amp service meant the campground was well maintained with plenty of camping amenities.

That was not exactly the case. The campground and the entire State Park is well maintained. Bathrooms are immaculate and the campsites, for the most part, are clean and many are paved!

Looking past the lack of water connections at each campsite (because water spigots were close by and we had several gallon jugs to fill up), this campground was wonderful, peaceful, and very relaxing! Many of the sites are handicap accessible and even had wheelchair/motorized chair access at the picnic table at each site. Those same handicap accessible campsites, each had a paved path to the bath house.

The bath house was very clean with warm water for showers. There is a Nature Center on the grounds explaining the splendor of the region including the connection to the Uwharrie National Forest. This State Park has a public pool that opens on Memorial Day each year. The staff in the Park Office were more than helpful and doing everything they can to promote NC State Parks. This Park is friendly to Veterans. We received a military discount showing our IDs.

After accepting the fact that our Verizon cell phones would not work inside this Park (at least at our campsite), we then embraced the beauty and splendor of what was around us. God's creation is amazing and this Park shows it off beautifully. Trees, birds, rivers, streams, wildlife, a rock quarry, scenic views, and solitude await visitors to this Park.

We would visit this Park again because we were able to fit our 36' Class A RV and toad into our campsite, enjoy the beauty and splendor, and go into town (Albemarle) if we needed Internet access.

We made a video of our time at Morrow Mountain State Park and have it on our YouTube channel. Here is a link: https://youtu.be/GbJLtwlaCQU
